🏆 We have some rather exciting news! 🏆

The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) celebrates people who make an outstanding contribution to the veterinary nursing community through its annual awards.

We are incredibly proud to share that our Practice Manager, Gemma, has been shortlisted as one of just THREE finalists for the 2026 BVNA Person of the Year (Non-RVN) Award! 🎉

The award recognises someone who, although not a Registered Veterinary Nurse themselves, has made a significant and positive contribution to the veterinary nursing profession and the people within it.

Gemma was nominated in recognition of everything she does for our nursing team and our practice — and to have been selected as one of only three finalists nationally is a fantastic achievement in itself. 💙

The overall winner will be announced at the BVNA Awards in October. 🤞🏆

Huge congratulations, Gemma — very well deserved, and we’ll all be rooting for you! 🥂💙

💙 Every new piece of technology tells part of our story.

This was our first Holmium:YAG laser, which helped us introduce laser procedures into our practice and achieve some fantastic results for our patients.

We've now upgraded to a thulium fibre laser, giving us even greater precision and efficiency for procedures such as laser lithotripsy.

Technology never stands still—and neither do we. We're always looking for ways to refine what we do and offer our patients the very best care. ✨

Here's something we'd like every owner to know... 💙

You never need to apologise for:
🐾 Your pet being nervous
🩺 Bringing a long list of questions
❤️ Getting emotional because you're worried
🏥 Coming in "just to be safe"
🐶 Your dog leaving a trail of fur behind!

At Warren House Veterinary Centre, we'd always rather see a healthy pet than have you sitting at home wondering whether you should have called.

No question is too small, no concern is silly, and we're always here to help you make the best decisions for your pet.

💬 What's something you've always wanted to ask your vet but never have? Let us know in the comments—we'd love to answer.

Operations & Anaesthesia 🩺🐾

Whether your pet is having complex surgery or something seemingly routine — like a castration or a small lump removal — the standard of anaesthetic care should be the same.

At Warren House Vets, we’ve invested heavily in advanced anaesthetic and monitoring equipment so that even our most routine procedures benefit from the level of monitoring you would expect during referral surgery.

During an anaesthetic, our team can closely monitor:

❤️ ECG & heart rate
🩸 Blood pressure
🫁 Oxygen saturation
💨 Carbon dioxide levels & breathing
🌡️ Body temperature
🫁 Advanced ventilation when required

But equipment is only part of it. Every anaesthetic involves a veterinary surgeon and trained nursing team preparing your pet, monitoring them throughout the procedure and looking after them during recovery.

So the cost of an operation isn't simply the few minutes it might take to remove a lump or perform a castration. It includes:

🐾 Pre-operative assessment
💉 Individually planned anaesthesia
🩺 Continuous, advanced monitoring
🧑‍⚕️ Dedicated veterinary nursing care
🧼 Sterile surgical preparation and equipment
💊 Appropriate pain relief and medication
🏥 Careful recovery and post-operative monitoring

❤️A routine operation may be routine for us — but there is nothing routine about the care we give the patient.

Then vs. Now 🐾💙

From first vaccinations to second vaccinations... look how much he's grown already! 🥹

This gorgeous Labrador puppy completely stole Nurse Ellie's heart from day one, and it's safe to say he still has it. ❤️

Puppies grow so quickly, and we love being part of their journey from those first tiny steps through to adulthood.! 🐶✨

Nala, the gorgeous Husky, came to see us for her booster vaccinations, and she definitely stole a few hearts while she was here! 🐺✨

Keeping up to date with your dog's annual boosters is one of the simplest ways to help protect them against serious infectious diseases, so they can continue enjoying all of life's adventures.

Thank you for visiting us, Nala – we loved seeing you! 🐾

Drop a 💙 in the comments if Nala's stunning blue eyes caught your attention too!

Gemma’s “Time Out”… 😂🐶💙

When your to-do list is a mile long, your emails won’t stop coming… and then one patient decides what you really need is five minutes of cuddles. ❤️🐾

Sometimes the best part of the job isn’t in the office… it’s on the kennel floor. 🥹💙

No meetings. No phones. Just a waggy tail, a warm cuddle, and a reminder of why we do what we do. 🐕✨

Who else thinks this should count as an official staff wellbeing requirement? 😄👇

💙🐾

Do what makes you happy. Stick with the people who make you laugh. 💙

For Katie and Tony, apparently that includes pre-anaesthetic cuddles. 🐶😂

A little glimpse of what happens behind the scenes — keeping our patients calm, comfortable and very well loved before their procedure. 🩺🐾

Why is my dog scooting?

It might look funny, but scooting is often your dog's way of telling you that something isn't quite right.

Some of the most common causes include:
🐾 Full or impacted a**l glands
🐾 Allergies
🐾 Intestinal parasites
🐾 Skin irritation around the back end

While an occasional scoot may not be cause for concern, repeated scooting, excessive licking, a bad smell, or signs of discomfort should always be checked by a vet.

📞 If you've noticed your dog scooting more than usual, don't ignore it—book an appointment with our team.
