Rocky's Paws Dog walker & Pet care service, Dishforth Hello, welcome to Rockys's Paws, my name is Amanda & Rocky’s Paws is my dog walking & pet check-in business.

It’s named after one of my own dogs, Rocky, who was a much-loved rescue dog that my partner & I took some few years ago (he loved water, as you can see from profile photo he had just been playing in the river). I set up my business after our dog walker left to move down south & it also gave me more time to spend with Rocky as being a rescue he needed a bit more care & attention. I have always had

a love of animals, dogs in particular, as they fascinate me! Rocky passed away a few years ago (old age) & we still miss him now. We have another collie, Zak, who is very much loved too & he joins in on some of the walks. I am based in Dishforth & I grew up in Dallowgill in the Dales next to a farm. Over the years I have been lucky enough to have many pets including rabbits, guinea pigs, Yorkshire terriers & border collies; one very tame guinea pig was best friends with the Yorkie & visitors were always surprised that we had a guard guinea pig! I always want the best care for my dog & I know what it’s like trying to balance a hectic lifestyle with keeping family pets. I aim to help with your dog walking and pet sitting requirements. Having a pet, whatever variety, as part of your family is very rewarding - that lovely happy face waiting for you when you open the door from a busy day at work, never judging you & always pleased to see you. Walks are fun, stimulating, invigorating, entertaining & great exercise for your dog (and me!). I aim to walk no more than 4 dogs at any one time to ensure your pet gets the utmost care & attention. I take dog walking seriously & your dog’s welfare is my top priority. Dogs are walked for a full half an hour or hour (whichever you prefer) as travel time is not included in the time I charge for. Upon returning from our walks it’s time to clean paws (and muddy tums if needed!), fill up water bowls, give your dog a treat (if permitted) and then I will leave your tired, trusted pet to have their well-earned snooze. I am CRB checked & insured. Please be assured that any information I keep on clients is securely locked away & any keys held are marked up in a coded system, not marked with any address details. Whatever your dog walking or pet minding needs please give me a call to discuss your requirements; I will try my best to help where I can.

Coming to the end of a very hot week 🥵. Its been mostly a week of early morning walks, mooching around in shade & garden pop ins for dogs as far too hot for normal walks 🐶. Garden pop ins are where I let them out in their own garden & spend time with them so that they dont get bored.

I had a quiet day one day, so took pooches on a little adventure towards Pateley in search of somewhere cool & shaded so they could just have a sniff about & a lie on the cool grass. They enjoyed that. Some stunning scenery along the way too.

I have had an fun & interesting week looking after cats, guinea pigs & chickens too. From lovely cuddles with cats to an escapologist chicken! Chicken is safely back in her pen. Well, thats a fun story....when I arrived at their house I was greeted by puss cat who came running to me for his usual tickle & cuddle (always makes my day 🥰) and running behind him was a chicken, who should have been in her pen🐔😮! Eeek, how did she get out!?! I coaxed her back into her pen with food (after a bit of running round like in a comedy sketch). At first look the pen was secure, no holes or gaps at all. As I stood in kitchen with puss cat, giving him a tickle, looking out the window towards the pen, I puzzled over how chicken had escaped....then I got my answer...i saw chicken poke about with her beak at bottom of fence & lift up a tiny bit of wire, stick her head through & wriggled out again 😲! And to make matters worse her pen mate then followed too, aarrgghh! Wow, the gap was miniscule, what a naughty but clever chicken! Took me a bit longer to coax her back in the this time & got her pen mate back in too. Phew!. Well, that was my morning workout! Secured wire down even more with planters & stones. So far that has worked 😃. Hope i haven't jinxed it saying that!

Never a dull moment in my line of work! I love my job 🐶🐈🐰🐹🐔🥰

Here we are at the end of another week. A great week of walks with my lovely little crew. I have also been doing pop in visits for cats & chickens this week while their owners are on their holidays. More cats, chickens & guinea pig visits next week. I do love my job 🥰🐶🐱🐔

🐶🐱Rocky's Paws is 11 years old this week 😄🥳

Here's to many more years walking your dogs & caring for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs , other small furries & chickens.

I am ready for a busy summer dog walking (garden pop in visits if its too hot) and also doing pop in visits for folks who are off enjoying their holidays.

I love my job, in fact I would go so far as to say it is my dream job 🥰🐶🐱🐭🐹🐰🐔. I have been doing this job for nearly 11 years & have found that I am not just a dog walker & pet carer. I am a dog walker, pet carer, a garden/green house waterer, "security checker" while folk are on hols, a friendly face, someone to chat to, a cuppa maker, a carer & much more especially for those customers who are house bound or don't see many people.

Today was a hard day as I attended the funeral of one of my lovely customers, Andrea. I have walked her dogs for over 5 years & I got to know her & her pooches very well. She made me laugh with her stories of times gone by & was always a jolly soul. Sadly the big C took hold of her in the last year & now she is at peace.

I was mentioned by name & thanked by her family in her eulogy which meant so much to me & had me in bits 😭. I was very moved as I am so used to people referring to me to as "the dog walker" (which I don't mind 🐶 as that's what I am 😀!) To be mentioned by name made me realise I was much more than the dog walker.

Knowing that I was recognised as a trusted, friendly, caring face that helped Andrea more than I realised means the world to me 🥰. Rest in peace Andrea xx

🌞Its hot, hot hot! Whenever it is too hot for walks for pooches 🐶, I offer owners the option of pop in garden visits. This is where I pop in & let pooch/es out in their own garden & spend a bit of time with them. They can then still get chance to go for wees/poos & get a bit of company to break up their day while their owners are out.

Summer hols - slots are filling up for Summer holiday visits for cat/rabbits/guinea pigs & other small furries (and chickens too!) 🐱🐭🐹🐰🐔. Please get in contact if you want more details on visits.

Half term school hols this week which means that as well as walking my fab pooch crew 🐶, I have some lovely pets to pop in on while their owners are on their jollies 😄. This week I am looking after cats, guinea pigs & chickens.

If you are going away on your holidays then don't forget to book holiday care for your pets too. I offer a pop in service for cats, rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs & other small furries. School holiday dates do tend to get booked up. (Sorry, I don't do dog boarding).

Please remember that I would need to do a visit to your home to meet you & your pet/s a few weeks before holiday dates.

DOG WALKING 🐶 - group walks or solo walks (group walks are no more than 4 at a time). A few of my clients are older/more nervous pooches who just like a slow amble & a sniff about, either on their own or with just 1 dog chum. I love doing those walks too! I like my clients to be happy & I love seeing them enjoying themselves.

PET POP IN SERVICE - Planning a holiday....don't forget to book care for your cats, rabbits, guinea pigs & other small furries.

At Rocky's Paws I offer a reliable & loving pet pop in service for your cats 🐈, rabbits 🐰,guinea pigs & other small furries 🐹. This allows them to stay in their own home & I pop in daily (or twice daily).

Pet Pop In Service includes:
▪︎Daily (or twice daily) feeding & fresh water
▪︎Litter box clean
▪︎Playtime & cuddles

GARDEN WATERING & HOUSE POP IN - while you are away on holiday I can water your garden, put bins out, open/close curtains giving your house that "lived in" look while you are away.

Your pets comfort & happiness is my top priority. Whether it's a short break or longer holiday please contact me for more information. School holiday dates do tend to be my busiest times. (Sorry, I don't do dog day care or boarding).

Another lovely sunny week out & about with my little crew 🐶

I walk a maximum of 4 dogs at once, although my usual is around 3. I like walking in these small groups so that the doggies get time to enjoy being out with their chums without being too overwhelmed with lots of chums all at once.🐶

I also offer solo walks for those pooches that just want a quiet walk on their own🐶

This week has been the first week of the Easter school hols so I have lots of Pop in visits to do while people are away on their hols. I am enjoying looking after cats, guinea pigs & chickens this week. Keeping chickens entertained is certainly a fun & varied challenge at the moment, as with the Bird Flu rules they have to be kept inside.🐱🐹🐔

As promised here are my updated prices.

Most of my walks are small groups, usually around 3 dogs at a time. I don't take lots of dogs at once as I like to walk in small groups & try to match pooches to chums that enjoy walking together so that they have the best time. I love to see them zooming around having fun together. 🥰😁🐶.

For those pooches that are a little more shy or prefer quieter walks I offer solo walks or can walk them with just 1 other dog so they have a bit of company 🐶

And not forgetting my pop in service for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs (& other small furries) and chickens. A service where i pop into your home to care for your pet when you are away on holiday. I offer 10 min/20 min or 30 min visits once or twice a day🐱🐰🐹🐔.
