Sometimes treatment isn’t just one visit - it can be a long journey, and we’re there every step of the way 💙

Supporting pets through recovery, and seeing them get back to their happy, active selves, really is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do (you may have seen it mentioned as the 'best part of the job' for many of our team).

Martin kindly shared this feedback after visiting us:

“I want to thank Southwater Vets, especially Ryan. We first took our Luna, an Old Tyme Bulldog, to you last September as she had a limp, which was her ligament in her back leg, so it was operated on.

"Unfortunately, she got an infection so it wouldn’t heal, and in December it was decided to operate again. What a fantastic result - within a week she was up and about as though nothing was ever wrong.

"It’s been a long road getting her fitness back, but now she is her old self. With all she went through, every time we visited the vets she couldn’t get in there fast enough as she knew how well she was treated - the treats helped! Thanks very much to all of you.”

It means so much to see patients like Luna living life to the full once again 🎉

In the Southwater Vets staff room there is a drawer…..

It’s filled with cards, messages, and kind words from clients - each one a reminder of the pets we’ve cared for and the people who have trusted us along the way.

Our team can dip into it on busy days, after a difficult case or simply when they need a little boost. The messages mean more than you might realise.....

We’re so grateful to everyone who has taken the time to write to us - your words are read, remembered and truly appreciated by the whole team.

🐾 From patients to pets 🐾

Obviously the Southwater team loves animals - but did you know that many members of the team have rehomed rescue dogs and cats since the practice opened?

From animals who first came through our doors needing treatment to festive foster fails that became permanent family members, we've shared some of their stories in a recent article.

⭐ Meet the Team Monday! ⭐

This week the spotlight is on Registered Veterinary Nurse Becca 💙🐾

As well as spending lots of time with our patients, Becca also loves her volunteering role with local animal charities - which involves hand-rearing kittens!

It's not often Becca's home doesn't have a resident kitten receiving lots of love and care! 🐱

As we reach the end of Veterinary Nurses Awareness Month, our final post has to be a big thank you from all of us here at Southwater Veterinary Group to our amazing veterinary nurses! 💙

From caring for patients before and after surgery, to monitoring anaesthetics, supporting owners, running clinics, and making sure every pet feels safe and comfortable during their visit - their skill, compassion and dedication are at the heart of everything we do.

We’re incredibly proud of our nursing team and grateful for the care they give to every patient who comes through our doors 🐾🐶🐱

When people think about ticks, they often picture deep woodland or countryside walks - but in reality, pets can pick them up in much more everyday places.

Ticks are commonly found in:

🌿 Long grass and overgrown areas
🌳 Parks and local green spaces
🍃 Hedgerows and field edges
🏡 Even in gardens, especially if wildlife visits

They don’t jump or fly...instead, they wait on vegetation and attach as pets brush past.

Checking your pet after walks, especially around the ears, neck and between the toes, can help spot ticks early.

We have said it before, but it is really important - taking the time to listen to owners is such an important part of the care we provide 💙

Understanding each pet’s needs starts with hearing your concerns and working together to find the best approach for them.

Shelley kindly shared this feedback after visiting us:

“Some amazing vets at Southwater Veterinary, in particular Rob and Naomi. The nurses also listen to what you are telling them and do their best to accommodate you when you have an anxious dog. Thanks Southwater Veterinary.”

It means a lot to know our team helps owners feel heard and supported every single time they walk through our doors 🐾

🎉🐾 Birthday girl Belle 🐾🎉

Belle came in to see us last week on her birthday for a very important appointment - a birthday manicure, weight check, and to collect some more flea and worm treatment 💙

She also made sure to collect plenty of birthday cuddles from Paige while she was here 🥰🐶

⭐ Meet the Team Monday! ⭐

This week we’re introducing Paige Moneypenny 💙🐾

Paige is a recent addition to the Southwater family and has quickly settled into life in practice. As a registered veterinary nurse, she’s involved in all aspects of patient care - part of our amazing team that work to keep pets comfortable, supported and well looked after throughout their visit.

We’re very pleased to welcome her to Southwater 🐶🐱

Earlier this week we were pleased to welcome Gracie to Southwater Vets for work experience! 🩺

Gracie spent time with different members of the team throughout the week, with one of her highlights being the opportunity to observe surgery.

As a training practice with a number of trainees already working within the team, opportunities for additional work experience placements are unfortunately very rare - so we were really pleased to be able to support Gracie this time!

Jodie helped organise the visit and has enjoyed showing Gracie some of the behind-the-scenes areas and chatting about practice life!
