🐾 Teenage phase: it’s a ride!
Narla’s 13 months and yesterday she officially flipped me the bird 🐶🙈
She completely ignored me and behaved like she was feral — selective hearing, sass, the lot.
And you know what? Totally normal.
Hormones, confidence and curiosity all kick in, and suddenly your “perfect” pup acts like they’ve never even heard their name before.
💭 Why am I sharing this?
Because social media can make it look like everyone else’s dogs are angels — they’re not (at least not all the time!). Even trainer’s dogs have wobbles.
When that happens, don’t give up. Keep training, reset boundaries, be clear in what you’re asking, and stay consistent. Manage their world so they don’t keep rehearsing poor choices — that’s not being harsh, it’s helping them get back on track.
Stay calm, keep it fun, reward the good — they do come through it if you keep plugging away.
Narla’s a fab girl overall, and with a bit of focus I’m confident we’ll get right back on track 💛
So if your young dog’s testing you, breathe. You’re not failing — you’re just in the thick of adolescence. It sucks, but it doesn’t last forever.
