As June marks National Microchipping Month, we'd like to ask every pet owner to take five minutes to check their details.
So far in 2026, over 90 stray animals have come into our centre. One of the biggest reasons animals aren't reunited quickly is because their microchip details are missing, incorrect, or out of date.
🐾 If your pet goes missing, an up-to-date microchip can help them get home quickly and safely.
🐾 If your pet is found injured or requires emergency veterinary treatment while missing, it allows professionals to contact you as soon as possible.
🐾 In situations where ownership is disputed, a registered microchip can help establish ownership quickly and confidently. Without this, proving ownership can become much more complicated and time-consuming.
🐾 It is also a legal requirement for dogs and cats in England to be microchipped.
The good news? Checking and updating your details is usually quick and easy through your microchip database provider.
Please don't assume your details are correct. If you've changed your phone number, moved house, or transferred ownership of a pet, now is the perfect time to check.
A five-minute job today could make all the difference if your pet ever goes missing tomorrow❤️
