❗️Let’s talk about grass seeds ❗️
This time of year us groomers see so many dogs come in with grass seeds, it’s not the ones we can easily see that we are concerned about… it’s the ones we can’t!
Grass seeds can work themselves into a dogs coat and if they pe*****te the skin they can cause serious and painful injuries 😓
Once they are embedded they can travel deeper into the body. This can lead to swelling, abscesses and infection.
They can get into dogs ears, eyes, nose/throat (by inhaling), armpits, groins.
If you suspect your dog has an embedded grass seeds, please seek veterinary attention immediately!
Routinely we check while we are grooming as part of the service. Most commonly we clear them out between dogs toes on a regular basis. We then recommend that you check your dog after walking them to ensure you notice before they get a chance to travel into the skin.
