🎃 Spooky season is beginning to creep in… and something frightfully fun is coming to Northcote Heavy Horse Centre! 👻

Join us for our Halloween Fright Night and brave the haunted trail before enjoying fire shows, spooky dancers, eerie aerial acts and more. There’ll also be a best costume competition, plus hot and cold food throughout the evening.

Last week, we held our annual Medieval Banquet — and wow, what a night!

We can’t thank our dedicated volunteers enough for all their hard work in giving our guests an evening filled with entertainment and mouth-watering food.

The Banquet is one of our most popular events and has sold out weeks in advance for the past five or so years. It takes a huge amount of work, with days spent setting up and tidying afterwards, but it’s always wonderful to hear such lovely feedback from our guests — including many who return year after year.

Our next event is the Medieval Tournament on Sunday 23rd August, followed by our wildly popular Spooky Halloween event at the end of October.

Looking for a fun, affordable family day out near Skegness?

We’re open every Monday to Thursday throughout the school summer holidays, from 11am–3pm.

We had a lovely visit from Clovers DAY Centre this week. They spent time with our animals, learned all about them and enjoyed a lovely picnic in our wildlife garden.

As we enter the summer holidays, we are open every Monday to Thursday. Come and visit us to enjoy lots of hands-on activities for all ages, including pony grooming, llama walking, ferret playtime sessions and more.

Our small café serves light bites, and we also offer memorable opportunities to learn about our sanctuary animals, feed them and interact with them.

One of our oldest and longest-standing residents, Lovel has been part of the sanctuary family for many years.

She may be a little timid and prefers life on her own terms, but that’s exactly what makes her so special. Lovel likes her routine, knows what she likes, and quietly goes about her day enjoying the peaceful sanctuary life she deserves.

Not every resident seeks the spotlight, but Lovel has a very special place in our hearts. 🐴❤️

Today, on Pet Remembrance Day, we take a moment to remember all of the wonderful horses and animals who have been part of our sanctuary family.

Since opening our gates in 1989, we’ve been privileged to share our lives with so many incredible animals. Each one had their own unique personality, story and special place in our hearts, and each helped make our sanctuary what it is today.

Though many of our cherished friends are no longer with us, they are never forgotten. Their memories live on in the smiles they brought to visitors, the lessons they taught us, and the love they left behind.

Today, we remember them all with gratitude, love and a smile. Run free, old friends. You’ll always be part of our family. ❤️🌈
