📚 Continual development and learning is an important part of providing the best possible care for the dogs I see.

This week I've been spending some time updating my knowledge with Canine Myofascial Kinetic Lines, exploring the fascinating connections between fascia and movement.

Continued learning helps me deepen my understanding, allowing me to bring the latest evidence and knowledge into every appointment 🐾

Massage is one of the most powerful and underutilised tools in veterinary rehabilitation.

It’s not just about relaxation - it’s a clinical tool that allows us to assess muscle health, improve tissue quality, and support recovery.

Through massage, we can:
✔️ Identify asymmetry and changes in muscle tone
✔️ Help tight muscles relax and weak muscles activate
✔️ Support healing in painful or injured tissues
✔️ Restore balance to the body after injury or performance demands

And here’s the key takeaway…

Rehabilitation doesn’t happen in a single session.
Massage - and recovery as a whole - requires consistent, repeated input over time to create lasting change in muscle and nervous tissue.

It also highlights something we often forget:
👉 Rehabilitation is a team effort
👉 And the owner plays a critical role in daily implementation

Because when used correctly, massage doesn’t just feel good…
it actively changes how the body moves, heals, and functions.

Canine therapy isn’t just for when something goes wrong 🐾

Regular massage can be part of a proactive approach to your dog’s health.
Supporting mobility, reducing tension, and helping keep them strong and comfortable as they age.

Looking after them now means fewer issues later 🐾

Have you noticed your dog hesitating before jumping onto the sofa or bed?

Perhaps they circle, pause, or look at you for reassurance. Maybe they try and then change their mind.

Difficulty getting up onto furniture is often one of the early signs that something doesn’t feel quite right. It may indicate muscular tension, joint stiffness, reduced strength, or an underlying orthopaedic condition that is beginning to affect their confidence and comfort.

These small changes in behaviour are worth listening to.

Canine massage therapy can help to:
✔ Reduce muscular tension
✔ Improve mobility and flexibility
✔ Support recovery from injury
✔ Increase comfort in day to day movement

Our dogs don’t always tell us they’re in discomfort, they show us in subtle ways.

If your dog is starting to struggle with movements that once felt massage therapy may be able to help them feel more comfortable and confident again. 🐾

You should always explore any concerns with your veterinary team.
