Event call!

How many spaniels does it take to make a mess?

It's a trick question, any number will do it! 😄

How can it really be the last week of the school summer holidays 😭, definitely have that back to school feeling.

This week is super busy, the next available slot is 8am Friday so if you're wanting a space next weekend then you're going to need to book in the next day or so - once schools are back it will settle down but weekends are always fully booked by Thursdays over the warmer months.

We've had a complaint!

At 1600 hours on August 19th, in the Penrith area of Cumbria, one Dalmation named Ozzy visited Welly and Tails Dog Park.

On arrival, it was noted that nowhere in the park was there a street sign for dalmations.

To add further insult, his brother Charlie, of a spaniel persuasion, found his way to Spaniel Square and promptly recorded the event (photo evidence attached).

Furthermore, it was actually Dalmation Ozzy's birthday, and on finding no Dally Alley and having to listen to Charlie harp on about his Spaniel Square, he was thoroughly vexed.

This has resulted in a formal complaint to Welly and Tails' owners with the request that Dally Alley is promptly actioned, otherwise face further repercussions from the Cumbrian Dalmation community.

Ozzy was not available for comment, but it was observed that he sniffed, barked and w**d on a fence post. We can only assume this means he was in full agreement with his owner's complaint about the lack of Dalmatian-focused signage.

Just 13 more days left of the pools before they come out as we move into September.

It's been a hot summer and I've loved seeing your pictures of your dogs playing in the pools and bridges!

Just a note on the pools, and I'll put this on a poster at the park too, but the pools are changed regularly but not every night so once grass clippings get into the pool they can end up looking a little murky.

We literally pump out all the water from each one on a rotational basis and refill, but due to the size, it's takes two hours to fill each one! And that's a lot of water so we wouldn't be comfortable wasting so much water every day (plus we'd need to shut most of the day to fill all three 😂)

But it does mean they can sometimes look green / muddy if the water has been there a few days.

Regulars will notice that one will be clear sometimes, then it changes to another as a different one gets cleared out.

M6 closed in both directions just past J41 - we are J41 so keep an eye on traffic if traveling to us today.

There's lots of back roads to us for alternative routes but I've heard it's affecting the A6.

M6 CLOSED in both directions between J41 (Catterlen) and J42 (Carlisle South) due to a HGV that has crossed the central reservation and overturned.

Diversions:
North via B5305 and A6 (solid triangle symbol)
South via A6 and B5305 (solid square symbol).

Calling all Reactive Dog Owners in Penrith, Carlisle and beyond!

On Saturday 13th September I'm opening the park between 10am - 12 for owners to come visit the park and have a look around at our facilities.

This is a human only event (so no dogs as obviously would be stressful for reactive dogs), to come drop in between 10-12 and ask any questions.

Many people are unsure about bringing a reactive dog to somewhere for the first time (because of worries about how busy it might be or if there are people nearby or dogs etc) so this is the perfect opportunity to pop down and get a feel for the place.

I've tried to build a quiet sanctuary for reactive dogs (and all other dogs who love a run off lead with peace and quiet), so if you're worried about whether it could be safe enough for your reactive dog then please come down and have a look and chat.

I'll be there between 10 and 12, as an accredited IMDT trainer and behaviour training consultant, to also offer any support or questions you might have.
