☀️ ☀️ It’s a hot one out there guys!! Please keep your pets safe and cool. Remember to provide plenty of water, shade, and avoid any exercise at all during the heat of the day. Stay safe everyone! ☀️ ☀️

☀️ Temperatures are set to soar this Bank Holiday weekend, and while many of us will be enjoying the sunshine, the hot weather can pose serious risks to our pets.

Every year, our veterinary teams see cases of heatstroke and dehydration that can become life-threatening very quickly. Dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets can all struggle in high temperatures, so it's important to take extra precautions to keep them safe.

🐾 Walk dogs during the cooler parts of the day
💧 Make sure pets always have access to fresh water
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and cool resting areas
🚗 Never leave pets in cars, conservatories or poorly ventilated spaces
🔥 Check pavements and artificial grass before walks to avoid burnt paws

Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbliness or collapse.

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them somewhere cool, offer water and contact your veterinary practice immediately for advice.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly with your pets. ❤️

‼️ ☀️ ☀️ Due to extreme heat, the Dog Show and canine demonstration parts of the Otford Village Fete on Monday have been removed for this year. We would ask that you leave your four legged friend at home in the cool where it is safer for them rather than bringing them out in the heat this year. ‼️

💔 We know that this is dissapointing for many pups and their owners who had been looking forward to the dog show, but for the health and safety of the dogs involved we feel this is the right decision.

The Otford Village Fete will run as usual for all human participants and there are so many AMAZING stalls and activities so please do come and check it out. Our wonderful Elands Veterinary Clinic team will be there too to say hello, so please do come along. We look forward to seeing you on Monday! ☀️ ☀️ ‼️

Today, on World Veterinary Day, we’re celebrating the people who make our work so special 💚🐾

At Elands, we’re incredibly proud of our team—the amazing women who have chosen to dedicate their lives to caring for animals with such compassion and commitment. Their work goes far beyond the everyday, bringing comfort, skill, and kindness to every patient and owner they meet.

Veterinary life can be demanding, both physically and emotionally. We share in the journeys of the animals we care for, often knowing them from their earliest days and supporting them throughout their lives. The connection with them is what makes this work so meaningful.

It truly takes a whole team—from reception and office staff to nurses, animal care assistants, and vets. Each role plays a vital part in ensuring every animal receives the care and attention they deserve.

Today, we recognise and celebrate everyone in the veterinary profession. Their dedication, compassion, and resilience make a difference every single day, and we are so grateful to be part of this community.

Team Elands - we are SO proud of every single one of you, you are incredible!! Thank you for everything you do. Happy World Veterinary Day 2026 ladies 💚xx
