Monday memories…

Last week we welcomed farrier Dan Hawkins to the yard on a hot and sunny afternoon, just before he headed off for a busy weekend at Bicton International Horse Trials — occasionally dressed in his best bib and tucker 🏇🧲🤵
Always a pleasure having Dan with us, alongside all the other top farriers that our owners use.

A cooler day with a lovely breeze in the air meant only 1 thing - a chance to do a bit of winter paddock management.
✔️Final bare patches mulched with hay sweepings to suppress weeds (& if we’re lucky the seed heads in the sweepings will germinate 🌱)
✔️Docks pulled. We don’t spray but at this time of year we do get a little OCD and go around pulling them up before they set seed. We’ve found that this helps to reduce the numbers and allows more grass to grow 🌱

Who needs the gym? 💪

Posted in the group chat this morning: “Maximum effort from The Big Ginger Boy on his snooze/graze regime 🤣 while The Gentle Giant keeps an eye on him 😀”
Another owner summed it up perfectly: “He is always lying down and eating! He’s a pro.”
If only there was a dressage test that included this move — he’d score a solid 10 every time 😂

Early this morning The Small Unicorn 🦄 and her owner headed out on a little road trip to Courtway Equestrian for some course riding practise. Another brilliant local venue with fantastic facilities to hire.
From the look of the videos, these two were flying 🦄👏💓 Smiles all round 😊

No sooner had they returned to the yard, showered the 🦄, and caught their breath… the owner was off again to volunteer at Bicton Arena International Horse Trials 🏇
