🌞🐾 **Hot Weather Awareness for Pets** 🐾🌞
With temperatures rising, it's important to remember that our pets can struggle in the heat much more than we do. Dogs and cats are at risk of heatstroke, which can become a life-threatening emergency very quickly.
Here are some simple ways to help keep your pets safe this summer:
💧 Ensure fresh, cool water is always available
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and cool resting areas
🚶 Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car – even for a few minutes
🐾 Check pavements with the back of your hand before walking your dog. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws!
⚠️ **Signs of heatstroke include:**
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Difficulty breathing
• Collapse
If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact your vet immediately.
Let's work together to keep our furry friends safe and comfortable during the warm weather. 🐶🐱
