βοΈ HOT WEATHER PET SAFETY βοΈ
With the warm weather and Bank Holiday weekend here, many of us will be spending more time outdoors πππ€
While we may enjoy the sunshine, it can be dangerous for our pets πΆπ±
Did you know?
πΎ Dogs canβt sweat like humans do
πΎ Hot pavement can burn paws in seconds
πΎ Cars can become deadly hot very quickly, even with windows open
π₯ TOP HEAT SAFETY TIPS π₯
π§ Always provide fresh, cool water
π³ Walk dogs early morning or later evening when itβs cooler
πΎ Check pavements with the back of your hand if itβs too hot for you, itβs too hot for paws
π‘ Keep pets in shaded, well-ventilated areas
π§ Use cooling mats, damp towels, or frozen treats to help keep them comfortable
π« NEVER leave pets in parked cars
β οΈ Signs of heatstroke:
β Excessive panting
β Drooling
β Lethargy or weakness
β Vomiting
β Collapse
If you notice these signs, move your pet somewhere cool, offer water, and contact your vet immediately π
Whether youβre heading out for a walk, BBQ, beach trip, or relaxing in the garden this Bank Holiday, please remember to keep your furry friends safe in the heat βοΈπΎπ€π
Always remember no dog has ever died from missing a walk, but many have died from one walk in the heat βοΈ
