Hot weather is expected across parts of the UK over the next week, with temperatures forecast to reach the low to mid-30s in some areas.
This is an important reminder for all handlers to help keep dogs safe, cool and comfortable.
Please consider:
๐ถ Walking dogs early in the morning or later in the evening
๐ถ Avoiding hot pavements, which can burn paws
๐ถ Keeping dogs in shaded, well-ventilated areas
๐ถ Providing fresh water throughout the day
๐ถ Using cooling mats, paddling pools or enrichment games with water
๐ถ Never leaving dogs in cars, conservatories or enclosed spaces
A little planning can make a big difference.
We would also love to see how handlers are helping their dogs stay cool. Please send in your photos and videos so they can be shared with the wider community.
One example already submitted shows one of our clients using a dog pool filled with balls, creating a fun and safe way for their dog to cool down while staying engaged.
Letโs share ideas, support each other and keep every dog safe during the warmer weather.
