🐾✨ Week 3 of Puppy Class... and things are getting seriously impressive! ✨🐾

This week's puppies were out there proving that being adorable and being clever are not mutually exclusive. 😍

The wins? Oh, there were plenty...

πŸ† Puppies were settling beautifully on their beds, even when that doorbell rang. You know the one. The doorbell that apparently announces the arrival of either a celebrity, a long-lost relative, or the most exciting human ever to walk up the driveway. πŸšͺπŸ””

πŸ† Delivery drivers also failed to cause complete chaos. A remarkable achievement considering many puppies believe every parcel is personally addressed to them.

πŸ† We introduced a cue to help puppies move away from distractions, giving their humans a practical tool for those moments when a dog, leaf, pigeon, or suspiciously interesting crisp packet becomes the most important thing in the world. πŸ‚πŸ¦

πŸ† And we started muzzle trainingβ€”making it positive, fun, and completely stress-free. Because the best time to teach a life skill is long before you ever need it.

The transformation from Week 1's "WHAT IS HAPPENING?!" energy to puppies calmly making good choices is always one of our favourite things to watch. πŸ’›

If you've been thinking about joining puppy classes, this is your reminder that today's tiny training wins become tomorrow's easy walks, relaxed visitors, and calm cafΓ©s.

And honestly... who doesn't want a puppy that can ignore the doorbell occasionally? πŸ˜…πŸΆ

🌟 Genius Class Wins This Week 🌟

What a week it’s been! Our Genius dogs have been quietly putting all their hard work into practice in the real world, and we couldn’t be prouder. πŸ’›

✨ Sky has been amazing when friends came to visit, and is getting much quicker at finding her calm again when excitement levels rise.

✨ Miles is growing in confidence after his encounter with an off-lead dog, and has discovered a new favourite pastimeβ€”sitting peacefully by the beautiful River Pang and watching the world go by.

✨ Stella absolutely smashed it during a family party. Not only did she cope brilliantly, but she made the wonderful choice to take herself off to a quiet space when she needed a break. That’s real life success!

✨ Bernie has been putting in the effort between classes, working hard on his walks and practising lots of the skills we've been covering.

✨ Bracken is making fantastic progress with those tempting distractions and is getting much better at ignoring cats and squirrels.

These moments might seem small to others, but for the families living them, they're huge. Every calm choice, every moment of confidence, every decision to disengage and self-regulate is worth celebrating. πŸŽ‰

We're so proud of every dog and human team in our Genius class. Now it's time to pause, appreciate how far you've come, and enjoy those wins. πŸΎπŸ’«

Hydration looks a little different these days πŸ’™

As dogs get older, their needs can change in ways we never expect. Senior dogs often develop new preferences, habits, and quirks that help them stay comfortable and happy.

For some unknown reason, Granny Alisha has decided that water only tastes right from a bottle! We've tried bowls, different dishes, and every usual option, but this is what works for her now. So that's what we do. πŸ₯°

One of the most important parts of caring for a senior dog is being willing to adapt. What mattered years ago may not be what they need today. Whether it's changing routines, adjusting diets, providing extra support, or apparently becoming a personal water bottle attendant, sometimes the little accommodations make all the difference.

Growing old isn't always easy, but it's our job to help them age with comfort, dignity, and plenty of love. ❀️🐾

Day 4: And so our holiday in Sunnyside Cottage came to an end... but not before one final adventure aboard the Flying Sconesman from Peasholm to Scalby Mills! πŸš‚

For Ali and Gizmo, it was their very first train journey. Both spent the trip glued to the windows, taking in the sights as the train rattled and clattered along. We suspect Gizmo thought he was chasing the scenery!

After a brisk walk along the seafront, we hopped back on the train and headed for our final destination before home: the legendary Piebald Inn in Hunmanby. πŸ₯§

Faced with a menu boasting 52 different pies, we were confronted with one of the toughest decisions of the entire holiday. Some people climb mountains; we spent 20 minutes debating pastry.

Sadly, the excitement proved too much for Gizmo. Halfway through the meal, he abandoned all attempts to stay awake and entered what can only be described as a pie-induced coma. 😴

And with that, it was time to say goodbye to the magical Sunnyside Cottage. Thanks for the memories, the adventures, and the extra pounds gained through "just one more treat."

Until next time! β€οΈπŸ‘πŸš‚πŸ₯§

Day 3 Sunnyside Cottage πŸŒ§οΈπŸ’¨The sun went in.

The weather turned wet and windy, but we weren't about to let that stop us exploring!

We stumbled across the start of the Cinder Track, the old railway line that runs towards Whitby and Scarborough. Alisha was, naturally, feeling very pleased with herself as she sat warm, dry and cosy in the buggy while the rest of us battled the elements. πŸ‘ΆπŸ˜

The Cinder Track closed as a railway in 1965 but is now a great pathway for walkers, cyclists and adventurous buggy passengers. We were rewarded with some fantastic views, a vineyard and a ram that looked like he'd just stepped out of a salon after being groomed by Gabi herself!!!!!! πŸπŸ’‡β€β™€οΈ

After all that exertion, we did what any sensible explorers would do and headed for coffee and cake in Robin Hood Bay. β˜•πŸ°

Suitably refuelled, we braved a wet and windy walk on the beach in search of fossils. Despite a thorough search involving much staring at rocks and looking knowledgeable, we found absolutely none. Not even a slightly interesting pebble. 🌊🦴❌

On our return the village seemed to be full of strange people wandering around with bells attached to their shoes. At first we thought we'd entered some sort of medieval time warp, but it turns out it was all part of the Folk Weekend. Either that or Morris dancing has finally taken over Yorkshire. πŸ””πŸ˜‚

Despite the weather trying its best to send us back indoors, another brilliant day of adventures was had by all.

Tune in for Day 4, when we'll be embarking on a very exciting journey... πŸ‘€πŸš‚

Day 2: Whitby Edition Sunnyside Cottage β˜€οΈβš“

We ventured to sunny Whitby, where Gizmo's nautical career officially began. A boat trip around the harbour introduced him to his sea legs, and we're pleased to report that neither he nor any passengers ended up feeding the fish. 🚀🌊

Back on shore, a cream tea appeared. Faced with the serious matter of scones, clotted cream and jam, Gizmo wisely selected his strawberry hat for the occasion. Some fashion choices simply make themselves. πŸ“πŸ«–

The afternoon was dedicated to fossil hunting, with Detective Gizmo swapping fruit-based headwear for his trusty Sherlock Bones hat. Armed with enthusiasm, a keen eye he set out in search of ancient treasures. πŸ¦΄πŸ”

Meanwhile, Alisha spent most of the day asleep in her buggy, undoubtedly enjoying the rare experience of not having to share the spotlight. In fact, we're fairly certain her favourite part of the day was Gizmo being occupied elsewhere. πŸ˜΄πŸ‘Ά

All in all, a cracking day of boats, scones, fossils and fashion.

Stay tuned for Day 3, where Gizmo will almost certainly discover a new hobby and Alisha will continue her campaign of strategic napping. πŸ˜‚β€οΈ

3, 2, 1... and we're back! 🏑✨

The bags are unpacked and we're once again enjoying the magic of Sunnyside Cottage in Robin Hood Bay.

Day one saw us heading to Runswick Bay and Staithes for a spot of seaside exploring. The beach at Runswick gave Gizmo and Ali the opportunity to showcase some new handmade hat creations. 🎩🐾 Gizmo was quite happy to model his... Ali, on the other hand, looked as though she was already drafting a formal complaint to management. πŸ˜‚

There was plenty of paddling, some successful trail pod hunting, and a bit of fossil hunting too. Whether we found priceless prehistoric treasures or just a collection of interesting-looking rocks remains to be seen! πŸ¦–πŸͺ¨

Ali also enjoyed travelling in the pushchair, right up until Gizmo decided there was room for two. Apparently personal space is not one of his strengths. πŸ˜†

A fantastic first day filled with sea air, sandy paws, and just enough chaos to keep things entertaining. Looking forward to seeing what adventuresβ€”and mischiefβ€”day two brings! πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈπŸΎ

Sunday saw a fabulous return to our Trail Hunt International Foundation Plus classes! πŸŽ‰

Fifteen teams spent the day working hard, learning new skills, and practising fun trails in a variety of locations along the river.

The biggest lightbulb moment for everyone? πŸ’‘πŸΎ

Each dog achieved so much more when given the opportunity to think, problem-solve, and work things out for themselves, rather than having their humans step in too early. It's always amazing to watch confidence grow as dogs learn to trust their own abilities and make good decisions independently.

A fantastic day of learning, teamwork, and trail hunting success all round! πŸ‘πŸ•πŸ’š

Meet the two wonderful pups from our June Calendar pages! 🐾✨

First up is Nelson the Sheepadoodle πŸΆπŸ’™ β€” a happy-go-lucky boy who loves putting his paws up on absolutely anything available and enjoys a trip to the pub with his humans. Full of joy, enthusiasm, and just a hint of mischief, Nelson always has that sparkle in his eyes that makes you wonder what he's planning next!

Then there's Lexi the Boxer πŸ•πŸ’¨ β€” a whirlwind of fun who bounces through life as though the entire world is her personal playground! Lexi never fails to make me smile (and usually laugh) every time I see her. She loves running at top speed and embracing every adventure with gusto… although her stopping skills don't always quite match her acceleration! πŸ˜‚

Both dogs bring so much personality, energy, and fun to class. 🫢🀩
