Due to the lighter evenings, it being too hot to train, etc.

I have decided to open the Training Ground for hire into the early evening.

You now have three time slots:

0900-1200hrs
1200-1500hrs
1600-1900hrs

(Β£40.00 first handler, Β£20.00 each extra handler, maximum 6 handlers)
With or without instruction, setting up scenarios, use of pistols, launchers and blanks & your trainer is welcome.

Instruction, scenarios & my launchers, dummies, pistols & blanks an extra Β£30.00

All three times being flexible, so an evening session currently could start at 1800-2100hrs.

The ground have bloomed and grasses which we didn't have last year (sown late, too dry & hot) have laid dormant & now taken over from everything else growing, it is now very user friendly and not as prickly for some of the four legged princess's that have used the ground previously, I'm not saying what breed or type of handler, but there maybe clues in the photos! πŸ˜‰

The lake now has four entry points, including a shorter bank to bank swim.

Racomitrium BumbleBee aka Doris (was Bee but after the Frenchies went I couldn't get on with it) back in the day before the country became a place full of sissies and political correctness female or WPC's were referred to as Doris's. I often call Summer Doris as a term of endearment! She picked Bee, so fittingly I changed it to Doris which appears to have a better response!

Anyway, made a bit of a start with her, retrieves coming in nicely now. As its too warm for much I decided to do some water work. She had followed Mumma Bear 'River' & Frank the Tank tk a race to the middle of the lake but gave up 20m out!

Alone she smashed it, 4 months 2 weeks, delivery to hand in the water. Proper spaniel, now she will never be clean or dry again!

Due to the temperatures today, I have made the decision in the interest of the welfare of the dogs to cancel today's lessons after midday, the WT Workshop is still going ahead.

Yesterday, when dogs ran for no more than 5 minutes, today's lessons will be far more intense and its not fair on the dogs or you as a paying client.

I pride myself on being able to offer you proper training and value for money, thats not possible today, shade in the afternoon is sparse & water work isn't always an option, apologies for this decision.

Full refunds or the opportunity to reschedule for a later date at your convenience are offered.

Enjoy the day off & stay hydrated! 😎🍻🍻🍻

Today we held our Royal Kennel Club J Regs seminar for spaniels, with their expression permission.

Presenter A Panel Gary Smith was assisted by B Panel judge Jaison Toon, both well respected & experienced triallers & judges, they made for an enjoyable morning in a relaxed learning environment & gave first hand experience of issues you may find when both handling a dog or judging.

Delegates travelling from far afield to take the exam, some experienced triallers, others yet to take their first run.
Pleased to say everyone passed & received their certificate for doing so.

The afternoon practical, a first of its kind in the country was a huge success.
Gary & Jaison set up some testing scenario's to test the judges knowledge on the J Regs.
Due to the weather we ran judges in pairs under the watchful eyes of our A & B Panel, in the interest of animal welfare the dogs ran for no more than a few minutes, enough time for a hunt & retrieve, then enjoyed the lake to cool off.

Once feedback has been received these will be taken to the RKC with a hope that the practical will form an integral part of the J Regs exam, potentially a stand alone day itself.

Thank you to all who came & made the day a success that it was. Also to our demo dogs who ran for the judges, it was really nice to see that some had even trained their dogs to commit eliminating faults on the day, added to the real life scenario's! πŸ˜‚

Finally, a massive thank you to Deborah & the young ladies who kept us supplied with hot & cold beverages & our guests with a full English breakfast Ruby Cooper's Coffee House.

πŸ’₯Tennis Ball & Dummy Amnesty!πŸ’₯

I shall be holding a month long Amnesty on any equipment mistakingly taken home by clients in their vests, etc!

As a result I have had to purchase some more very bright tennis balls as we had ran out! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Shhhhhhh at the back Springcopse Spaniels πŸ€ͺ

We have amended our T&C's to include full searches at the conclusion of lessons & will shortly be taking ownership of a Gundog Training Xray scanner, one of the first in the country! πŸ˜‰

We are also trialling CCTV equipped tennis balls, with Ghost immobilisers & live tracking! 😎

There is a reward for any tennis balls, dummy's, launcher dummies & water dummies (at least 6!) that could well be hidden on the ground and in the lake, found and returned! 🎁

I currently have dummies on holiday in Norfolk, Liverpool, Huntingdon, Peterborough & Lincolnshire!!!!!

Have a great day training folks! πŸ‘

The last two pups have flown the nest!

Off to live a wonderful life in France with Nicolas Bournisien who will hopefully trial them in France, Italy & Spain!🀞

Good luck with them both!

My French is a little rusty, Nico's English the same but thank goodness for Google translate!
He did like the fact I am still able to order a large beer though! πŸ˜‚
