Today saw the start of this years Advanced group training, a throughly enjoyable session, putting the dogs and handlers through their paces, with some testing scenarios.
All dogs and handlers did well and went away with something to work on. Look forward to seeing you next month.

Back by popular demand.

We will once again this year be running group training sessions, starting in April and run monthly.
Starting
20th April - Advanced group, for those with a basic trained gundog that wants to polish and finely hone skills, whether for the shooting field or trialling.
27th April- Basic training group, for those that are still on the journey, or just starting to train their Gundogs.

Although my passion is for trialling, all my dogs are trained to work in the beating line, or go picking up, and regularly do.
You won’t find them running the full length of the drive flushing birds out of control, if your having this sort of problem, give me a shout, and I’ll be happy to help you correct this.
We also train pet dogs for basic obedience.

What a brilliant start to the year. A phone call yesterday from someone who attended our group training and then subsequently came for advise and 1-2-1. This lady had a lovely cocker, who I could see straight away had potential, only thing holding it back was the handlers lack of confidence.
That’s what we worked on more than anything else, and yesterday it all fell into place, with dog and handler winning an all aged any variety trial.
I didn’t train the dog, the handler did, I just gave support and advise where needed, and throughly enjoyed watching the partnership flourish, between the two of them.
It’s not all about being able to train a dog, but being able to communicate and get the handler to understand and believe in themselves.
Well done Brenda Atkins, you’re a ⭐️ ⭐️ .

Dogs’ stress signals often get misunderstood or missed, with some owners not realising their dog is unhappy until they growl, snap or even bite.

The canine ladder of communication is a useful guide, showing the different signals dogs show through their body language to communicate. As a dog gets more upset, their body language may change according to the steps on the ladder.

It’s important to note that all dogs are different - not every dog will show every behaviour on the ladder and might not follow the specific order.

Familiarise yourself with the signals shown above so that you can recognise them with your own dog 🐶
