Pioneer Hoof Protection World’s first self-adjusting hoof boots for barefoot horses. Engineered for fit, function and freedom through every stride.

We recently visited Mia Rodley, to fit Pioneer Sports Hoof Boots on her horse Spirit.

Mia had struggled with other hoof boots twisting on Spirit’s feet in the past. By adjusting the strap configuration to suit Spirit’s individual hoof conformation, we achieved a secure, comfortable fit that stayed where it should.

One of the benefits of Pioneer’s adjustable design is that the fit can be tailored to the individual horse, rather than expecting every hoof to fit the boot in exactly the same way.

Spirit looked very comfortable in his new boots, and Mia was really pleased with the fit. That's what Pioneer fit, function and freedom is all about!

Real life testing means using the boots for everything we expect our customers to use them for, and that includes using them on the hind feet too.

And these boots aren't just for riding.

They can be just as useful for groundwork and long reining, whether you’re starting a young horse, bringing a horse back into work after an injury, or simply want to give them extra protection and comfort over challenging surfaces.

Because wherever your horse’s training or rehab takes you, their hooves still need to be comfortable and protected.

Fit. Function. Freedom.

Hoof measurements are important when choosing hoof boots for your horse, but so are good hoof photos.

Photos give us valuable information about your horse’s hoof shape and conformation that measurements alone can’t show, and these details can make all the difference when choosing the best size and fit.

But the photo angle matters! A photo taken from too high up or slightly from the side can make the hoof look very different from how it actually is.

Here’s how to take clear, accurate front and side-view photos that give us the information we need to help you with sizing.

A quick safety note: only kneel or crouch beside your horse if you know they’re comfortable and safe with you doing so. If you’d rather keep a little more distance, a selfie stick or similar can be a handy way to get your phone down to ground level without putting yourself close to their feet.

Accurate hoof measurements are so important when choosing the right size and style of hoof boots for your horse.

Measure the hoof length:
1️⃣ Ensure the hoof is completely clean, that you have a tape measure or a ruler where the numbers are clearly visible.
2️⃣ Place the zero at the toe, right at the edge of the hoof, then place the ruler straight along the hoof.
3️⃣ Keep the ruler in place with one hand, and take a photo with your other hand.
4️⃣ Check that the entire hoof is visible in the photo, and the photo is sharp so that the numbers on the ruler are easily visible.

Measure the hoof width:
1️⃣ Ensure the hoof is completely clean, that you have a tape measure or a ruler where the numbers are clearly visible.
2️⃣ Determine where the widest part of the hoof is, and measure there.
3️⃣ Place the zero right at the edge of the hoof, then place the ruler straight across the hoof.
4️⃣ Keep the ruler in place with one hand, and take a photo with your other hand.
5️⃣ Check that the entire hoof is visible in the photo, and the photo is sharp so that the numbers on the ruler are easily visible.

This is why we do what we do.

We recently received this lovely message from Ewa about her horse, Yamaz, who had been struggling with his front hooves for some time.

After trying several different solutions without success, they discovered Pioneer Sports Hoof Boots.

In Ewa’s words, they’ve been “genuinely a game changer”, allowing Yamaz to keep working and training without the constant worry about his hooves.

And judging by this photo, they certainly aren’t holding him back!

Thank you, Ewa, for taking the time to share your experience with us. Hearing how Pioneer boots are making a real difference for horses and their owners is exactly what we love to see.

Fit. Function. Freedom.

"I have ordered a pair and can't wait to start using them when they arrive."

Our main goal is simple: to help horses feel comfortable. And we believe great customer service is an important part of making that happen.

Whether you meet us for a face-to-face fitting, email us for sizing advice, or send us a quick question about the boots on social media, every enquiry matters to us. We genuinely love hearing from horse owners, getting to know you and your horses, and helping you find the right solution for your horse's needs.
