We enjoyed running out Rushden Lakes pack walks so much that we're doing it again!

This time, it will be a weekday walk at Titchmarsh Nature Reserve - Daisy's Dog Training will be there again to answer questions, offer advice, and have a lovely time as always!

I'm very excited to be joining Nene Valley Woofs for their group dog walks. Starting at Rushden Lakes, I'll be there to talk all things dog, while other members of team are there to answer any questions about local nature and wildlife, as we walk together around the Special Protection Area.

In case you missed it, Nene Valley Woofs returns Sept 7th!

For this event, we're teaming up with Daisy's Dog Training to offer a 'Ask a Dog Trainer' session, plus our usual free Pack Walk! Get Daisy's advice on any issue or queries you have about your canine companion.

In addition, we'll be asking you what you'd like to see from future Nene Valley Woof events, including specialised pack walks and other opportunities to celebrate dogs and their owners in the Special Protection Area.

I had a lovely time meeting tiny puppy duo Niko and Maï last week. They both have lovely temperaments but show two opposite ends of the confidence spectrum for puppies, so the training approach and focus will be slightly different for each pup.

Ivan beautifully demo'd my new "DO NOT TOUCH" lead slip from this week. He is a very friendly boy, but sensitive to unknown hands coming near his face. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't ask before trying to pet him, or even ignore when asked not to! This lead slip has big, clear writing for passing people to see and was a great success.

My friends at Mutts-Nutts are hosting a KONG Day celebration tomorrow at their shop in Peterborough. I will be going along to support the shop and get involved.

Daisy's Dog Training is relocating!
From mid-January I will be offering training and behaviour help in and around Peterborough. This unfortunately means that I will no longer be offering daycare training with my friends at Capital and Buddies, or one-to-one training around Hemel Hempstead. I am working on updating the website and will hopefully be offering some new services after the move too.

Being a whippet, Nero loves to chase, so I use a Tug-E-Nuff ball on the end of a flirt pole for some controlled play during our daycare training sessions. I add in some impulse control by asking him to wait for a release cue to begin his chase, slowly building up how long I ask him to wait as his ability develops. This is a super important skill for us to be working on with Nero at the moment, as he has recently discovered the wonder of chasing squirrels 🐿
