‘ End of an era ’
On Wed 23rd July, we lost our precious Smokey. The beautiful grey cat that made the barn her home.
15 years ago, she turned up not long after we lost our other 2 cats, just before we decided to go to Pennine Pen.
Chris walked into the barn and seen 2 bright yellow eyes peeping out under the stairs. She wouldn’t go near anybody. We fed her and left her to settle. It was about 12 months before she would let us near her for a stroke as everything was on Smokey’s terms at first.
She then decided to make Croft End her forever home.
Through the winter months, when we all thought about her being outside in the cold, she would not go inside to keep warm. Many igloos, beds and blankets later…we would still find her curled up in the rugs upstairs in the barn.
Smokey only had the best diet. She loved gourmet pouches, likits, dreamies etc.
She become the softest cat going with many mummies and daddies constantly looking after her giving lots of love and cuddles.
She even had a bed in the end which had heated pads in and furry blankets to create a 5* cat hotel.
She become a very old lady, who eventually was ready to join the rest of the Croft End legends.
There will never be another Smokey cat.
She will be missed!!
All our love
