✨ Story of the Week! ✨
Meet Stanley, the bravest little domestic short‑hair kitty 🐾 who visited our Ashton branch back in May after a serious road traffic accident 🚗💔.

Despite his injuries, Stanley showed incredible spirit from the moment he arrived. After careful assessment, our vet Ceibhionn determined that the best option for his comfort and long‑term quality of life was a full hind‑leg amputation. While that sounds daunting, cats are remarkably resilient - and Stanley proved that in every way 💪🐱.

The procedure involved removing the damaged limb, carefully closing the surgical site, and ensuring he woke up safely and comfortably from anaesthesia. Thanks to modern surgical techniques and the skill of our team, the operation went smoothly, and Stanley was already purring by the next morning 💛.

His recovery has been nothing short of inspiring. With plenty of rest, pain relief, and TLC from both our team and his loving family, Stanley quickly adapted to life on three legs. Cats are natural acrobats, and he’s already back to climbing, exploring, and showing off his new “tripod” confidence 🐈‍⬛✨.

Swipe to see how far he’s come - from his surgery day to his bright, happy, healed‑up self today. We’re so proud of him! 💙

The week of the 22nd is National Rabbit Awareness Week 🐰 We’re here to tell you just how important vaccinations are for rabbits.

Myxomatosis is a widespread, life-threatening virus ⚠️ Cases are frequently seen in unvaccinated rabbits, causing tumour-like swellings and weakening the rabbit’s immune system. This makes them more vulnerable to secondary bacterial infections, often leading to severe respiratory disease.

The best way to protect your rabbit is through regular vaccinations throughout their life. Vaccination not only protects your own rabbit, but also helps reduce the spread of disease.

Check with your vet today to make sure your rabbit’s vaccinations are up to date.

Does your cat seem to be constantly grooming? 🤔

This can lead to hair thinning or loss and skin sores, usually around the belly, sides and the inside of the back legs. Overgrooming is often a sign of a skin problem, but it can sometimes be caused by pain or anxiety. When a cat grooms, endorphins are released, which can soothe a ‘stressed’ cat and be a form of self-soothing. Cats are very good at hiding if they’re unhappy in their environment.

Contact us today for further support if your cat is overgrooming and you are unsure of the cause.
