*** SHOW UPDATE ***

I'm delighted that the long-range weather forecast is predicting a comfortable temperature of 19°c for our show on the 31st August. We will, of course, be watching this closely to make sure it is safe for your boys and girls to take part.

I am also delighted to let you know that we have a fantastic judge, who has very kindly volunteered. Paul Clayton (aka Smurf's Dad) will be putting your houndies through their paces on the day. If you sponsor a class, you can join Paul in the ring and choose your winner with his expert guidance!

Tracy Clayton (aka Smurf's Mum) has generously agreed to make our rosettes too, which is absolutely amazing! I've started polishing Coco, so she is in with a chance of bringing one home :)

There are still lots of classes that need sponsoring - I will keep the list on this post updated...

Best Black Hound - Sponsored by Karen & Scott Wood, for Geraldine
Best Boy - Sponsored by Tracy Revitt & Paul Clegg, for Star & Kiya
Best Brindle - Sponsored by Jeremiah Kirkpatrick, for Freddie
Best Six Legs - Sponsored by Karen & Scott Wood, for Geraldine

Our Fun Greyhound Show on Monday 31st August is approaching like a runaway train! We hope to see as many hounds participating as possible!

The show is being held at Crossing Cottage. No parking will be available at the kennels, or on Barrel Hill Lane. Please park legally, sensibly and with consideration for the village residents, either on the Old Great North Road, or elsewhere in the village.

Gates open at 10:00 and the show will start at 11:30.

We will have our usual fundraising stalls for the kennels, a raffle, BBQ & Refreshments, Cathy's Chocolates and Cakes and *hopefully* Lenton Lane Brewery will make an appearance so we can get our paws on their new beer!

How can you help us?

We are seeking sponsorship for each class. Available for just £50, you can dedicate the class to a much loved hound or family member, present the prizes and even judge (if you wish).

We would love donations of items for the raffle - if you have anything you would like to donate, please bring it with you on the day.

If you are free on the day and would like to volunteer to help everything run smoothly, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Come along to support us, and show everyone how amazing your hound is!

Yesterday we introduced you to brother/sister pair, Harry and Darcy, so today I thought we would introduce you to the other siblings we currently have at Crossing Cottage.

Our baby boys, Ballo and Buddy, do not live together so do not need to be homed as a pair. At not yet 2 years old, these wonderful little chaps have their whole lives ahead of them. They are both cheeky, affectionate and a little bit silly 🥹

No sooner than we waved 'good-bye' to sisters, Billie & Nala, their kennel has been taken by another pair of stunning siblings, Harry & Darcy.

Harry and Darcy are a beautiful pair, both inside and out. They are already proving themselves to be well-mannered, good on the lead, sociable and affectionate.

If you have space for two, you won't regret coming in to meet this lovely duo!

Once of our supporters, Casey, has set herself the massive challenge of running 3 marathons (78.6 miles / 126.6 km) in August, to raise funds for us at Crossing Cottage!

If you would like to support her, and us, please see the link to her JustGiving page below.

Please offer her a few words of encouragement in the comments - I can't imagine taking on such a challenge, and am in awe of her doing so!

Thank you Casey!

*** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ***

To all our wonderful supporters, adopters, volunteers, and friends of Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary,

We want to share some difficult personal news with our community. John has recently received a cancer diagnosis and, as a result, his health is currently poor.

This is understandably a challenging time for John, his family, and everyone at the Sanctuary. We kindly ask for your patience, understanding, and support as we navigate the weeks and months ahead.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our incredible staff and volunteers. Their dedication, compassion, and willingness to pull together during this period have been truly remarkable. The care and welfare of our greyhounds remain at the heart of everything we do, and their commitment ensures that the dogs continue to receive the love and attention they deserve.

To all our adopters - past, present, and future - we want to offer reassurance that the future of Crossing Cottage Greyhound Sanctuary is secure. Through John's foresight, careful planning, and extraordinary generosity, together with the support and generosity of his family, strong foundations have been put in place to protect the Sanctuary and our mission for years to come.

John has devoted so much of his life to helping greyhounds, and we know he draws great comfort from the knowledge that the Sanctuary, our dogs, and our community will continue to thrive.

Thank you for your continued kindness, support, and understanding. It means more than words can express.
