Little Saffy was a regular at our walks and events. Her family asked us to share this message with you ๐Ÿ’”

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sad passing of our beloved sweetheart, Saffy (Salacres Sanfont). Saffy came into our lives on the 16th February 2019 where we instantly fell in love. We arrived at Crossings Cottage with no real expectations, but Judith immediately said she had the perfect dog for us! And there she was with her beautiful eyes, unparalleled love and beautiful lolloping walk. Saffy instantly became a family member. Her biggest asset was her charm and sometimes she got away with cheekiness and devilment! A companion that was always by your side and welcomed you home after a day at work, Saffy was the constant in our household for the last six and half years. She loved her walks and her stays at Nan and Grandads house. She loved meeting up with friends and siblings on the organised walks ran by the Trust over the last few years. However, over the last few months her health deteriorated and the meet ups were no longer possible for her. Sadly, we had to let her go over the rainbow bridge on Thursday 2nd October 2025. Thank you Saffy for choosing us as your forever home. You will be missed forever but I am sure you are running free with all your siblings in the meadow in the sky. Love you sweetheart โค๏ธ"

Our thoughts are with her family xx

*** REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE - SATURDAY 4th OCTOBER ***

Due to planned staff leave and unplanned staff sickness, we are going to be very short handed at the kennels tomorrow.

If any of our lovely volunteers could spare an hour or so in the morning to help us take our houndies out for a walk, it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

Sometimes when you meet a greyhound for the first time, they instantly touch your heart.

If you are very lucky, you get to take that greyhound home with you and share your life with them.

For us, working at Crossing Cottage, we often have to wave our 'heart dogs' off to their new homes. In the case of Jack, I first met him after he had already been in his home for several years.

A regular at our walks and events, I'm sure many of you have met and fallen in love with this beautiful boy - just as I did. But none of us loved him as deeply as his family, and our thoughts are with them following his sudden and unexpected passing yesterday evening.

Jack - a true gentleman of a hound, who will be very much missed.

Run fast and free, darling boy ๐Ÿ’”

We're delighted to let you know that the adorable Winnie earned her spot on our reserved board today.

This wonderful little greyhound's stay with us has been short and sweet. She won over her adopters' in a matter of seconds - I think it was a fait accompli before they even set off on their walk together

A bit of a catch up for you today!

Over the last couple of weeks we have waved goodbye to Millie, Lucky, Merapi and Erebus. All hounds are settling well into their new lives, and we are so very thankful to their new owners for adopting a greyhound (or two) from us!

This week, we welcomed four beautiful little ladies to Crossing Cottage. We are delighted to introduce you to Cassandra, Talisa, Bunny and Tehya. These wonderful greyhounds are absolutely lovely - the perfect blend of sweetness and sass, and all so affectionate!!

Please get in touch if you would like to meet any of our amazing boys and girls, who are waiting patiently for their forever homes
