Our little chameleon friend returned for a follow-up check, and we’re delighted with his progress! After the treatment and care plan we prescribed for his dysecdysis, his eye has improved dramatically.

Dysecdysis, can cause serious problems for reptiles, particularly around delicate areas such as the eyes, if left untreated.

Seeing our patients come back feeling and looking better is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do, and we’re very happy with this little guy’s recovery.

🐱 This handsome guy visited our practice for a second opinion after experiencing ongoing urinary issues.

Following a thorough assessment, we diagnosed Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), a complex condition that forms part of the spectrum of feline lower urinary tract diseases. We also discussed how factors such as diet, stress, and the home environment can play an important role in its development and recurrence.

Signs you shouldn't ignore:
-Frequent trips to the litter tray
-Excessive licking around the ge***al area
-Straining to urinate
-Blood in the urine

⚠️ These symptoms require prompt veterinary attention, especially in male cats, where urinary blockage can quickly become a life-threatening emergency.

After further investigation, our feline friend was started on a tailored treatment plan, including a specialised urinary diet, medication, and antibiotics where appropriate. We're happy to report that he is already feeling much more comfortable and showing great improvement.

After a thorough examination, we were able to identify the most likely cause and put together a tailored treatment and management plan. In amphibians, eye problems are often linked not only to the eyes themselves, but also to nutrition, environmental conditions, and overall metabolic health.

After carefully treating the infection, we were able to restore her shell and support her healing journey. A tortoise’s shell is a living structure with a unique anatomy, making proper veterinary care essential after any trauma.

🐔 Nutmeg’s respiratory emergency

Nutmeg came to us after suddenly developing significant breathing difficulties, following similar respiratory signs in another hen from the same flock.

On arrival, she had marked respiratory effort, noisy/wheezy breathing, crackles, and signs of distress. Respiratory disease in birds can progress quickly, so she was admitted for oxygen therapy, medication, close monitoring, and supportive care.

Thankfully, Nutmeg responded very well. Her breathing settled, the wheezing improved, and once she remained stable off oxygen, she was able to continue her recovery at home with medication, nebulisation, and careful monitoring.

Chickens and other birds can hide illness until they are quite unwell. Sneezing, coughing, blocked nostrils, runny eyes, open-mouth breathing, wheezing, or increased respiratory effort should always be taken seriously.

At V for Vets, we provide dedicated care for all species, including chickens, rabbits, reptiles, small mammals, exotic pets, cats and dogs.

Meet Billy, this tiny cutie visited our practice for his first vaccinations and very first health check, using our Pet Health Care Plan like a true VIP patient.

Safe to say he stole every heart in the building.

💡Puppies spend most of their first months learning about the world through play, sniffing, and social interaction, every new experience helps shape their confidence and personality as adult dogs!
