🌱Unfortunately Grass seed season is here!
❗️Grass seeds are small, pointy & Sharp. They can become trapped in your dog’s fur, paws, ears, eyes or nose and then pierce the skin.
⚠️Signs to look out for⚠️
Licking their paw constantly
Painful swelling between toes
Limping
Chewing at a sore spot on the skin
Shaking their head
Pawing at ear or rubbing ear on a hard surface
Sudden & violently sneezing
Eye redness, swelling or discharge
✳️Prevention✳️
Always check your dogs feet and paws after a walk especially if you have walked through long grass areas.
Inspection of long fur.
Keep hair around paws & ears short.
Avoid long grass if possible
🦮What to do if you think your dog has one🦮
If you spot a grass seed remove immediately before it penetrates the skin.
If your dog shows symptoms please call to book a veterinary appointment - once a grass seed is under the skin it can travel around the body.
Sometimes it can be painful to remove them so sedation may be necessary.
