☀️ HEAT STROKE ☀️

We are repeating this important message again because the weather is so hot at the moment, and this could save a life.

⚠️ 15 minutes is all it takes for a dog to die from heatstroke, it is a very serious issue, so it is important that owners are aware of the signs ⚠️

Symptoms include;

▪️Heavy panting
▪️Excessive drooling
▪️Red/purple gums and tongue
▪️Vomiting
▪️Glassy eyes/fearful expression
▪️Racing heart
▪️Collapse/staggering
▪️Seizures

Heat stroke occurs most commonly to dogs with a history of exercising on a warm day, being left in a car/conservatory/caravan on warm days, and those left out in the sun with limited/no access to shade and water.

What do I do if I suspect heatstroke?

💦 WET THEN VET! 🩺

✅ Move your dog to a shaded area
✅ Immediately douse the dog with cool (not cold) water, to avoid shock. If possible, you can also use wet towels or place him/her in the breeze of a fan.
✅ Allow your dog to sip cool (but not freezing) water
✅ Take your dog to your vet urgently. This is an emergency situation, so do not delay seeking veterinary treatment. Phone ahead so treatment can begin as soon as you arrive at the clinic

🔬 Under The Microscope 🔬

Does anyone recognise this little beast? It’s a flea!

If your pet has ever had fleas, you will know how difficult it can be to get rid of them 😩

✅ It takes at least 12 weeks of continuous protection to rid your pet and home of a flea infestation

✅ Female fleas lay up to 50 eggs per day, that’s 1500 in a month 🙈

✅ Only 5% of fleas live on your pet, the other 95% live in the environment in carpets, rugs and sofas 😳

Avoid a flea infestation by keeping your pets protected with year round cover, and save money doing that on our Pet Health Club!

⭐️ Meet Sieben ⭐️

Gorgeous girl Sieben was in with Vet Georgia for her first puppy vaccine this morning 🥰

She is 8 weeks old and her mum says she is full of mischief!

We can’t wait to see her again for her next vaccine in 4 weeks time ☺️

⭐️ We are so excited to be attending “Q Let The Dogs Out” this Sunday! ⭐️

It’s going to be pawsome! 🐾 Q Let the Dogs Out is back this Sunday 27th July in Ormeau Park, from 11am to 1pm, hosted by Gráinne McCoy and Jordan Arnold.

It’s set to be a great day of giveaways, dog-friendly fun and plenty of wagging tails.
