Calling all Good Manners graduates!

If you've completed Good Manners with us in the last year, check your inboxes (and junk folders!) for an email I sent this week offering you the chance to repeat the full four-week course for just £75 (£18.75 per session)!
As we've still got space available, I'm also happy for previous graduates to drop in for individual weeks for just £20 per session, if you can't commit to all four!

It starts TODAY, Sunday 1st November at 1.30pm!

Repeating the course is a great way to practise around distractions and build on the skills you've already learned, and we can progress any exercises your dog has already mastered!

Poem Thirteen in our Dogs Trust Fundraiser! 🐾

I'm not going to lie, my little nerdy brain got a bit carried away with this one, so apologies to any non-Lord of the Rings fans – I just couldn't resist! 😂

We've now got five more poems in the queue and £325 raised so far for Dogs Trust!

The Good Manners course focuses on all those real-life skills that help dogs become easier, calmer and more enjoyable to live with - including:

Yes, I am aware it is nearly the end of October. 😂

Apologies to all our lovely September graduates who have been patiently waiting for their moment of glory! I’m blaming a combination of human toddler, baby puppy and a neurospicy brain that looks at a backlog of things to do, gets overwhelmed by the backlog… and consequently makes a day creating spreadsheets of what order to do things in rather than actually doing any of the things. 😂🤦‍♀️

Seven weeks of training and support in our small group, relaxed classes in East Didsbury, South Manchester — STARTS THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON!

Got an older puppy or adult dog who could do with brushing up on their manners?

Our Total Training Sunday Package gives you 7 weeks of training covering the things that make the biggest difference to everyday life with your dog:

1. 25th October: Intro Class – get started with our approach and see how your dog gets on in the group environment - a gently paced explorative session with an intro to the training.

2. 1st-22nd November: 4 weeks of Good Manners – ignoring people and distractions, sticking with you, not jumping up at people, impulse control and generally making life together a bit easier!

3. 29th November: Lead Walking Workshop – helping you build calmer, more enjoyable walks

4. 6th December: Recall Workshop – practical training for a dog who actually comes back when you need them to

Can’t make one of the dates? Let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to find you an alternative date!

💻 PLUS full access to our online training library, so you’ve got videos and resources to come back to at home throughout the course.

7 weeks of classes plus full training library access: £239 - Thats £34.15 per class INCLUDING all the online material for each course.

The puppy stage is HARD.

I know you all know this. I know I know this. That doesn’t actually make it magically easy though!

Cali is in full-on “possessed crocodile on speed” stage and, at only 11 weeks old, I’m VERY aware that we’ve still got a good while to go!

Having a puppy AND a human toddler is EXHAUSTING - although I’m incredibly lucky to be dog-sharing with my parents, so I only have one of the tiny chaos demons full-time 😂

Add to that the fact that I’m currently full of cold and feeling thoroughly rubbish, and I am very much NOT on top of life right now!

The frustrating thing is that I have SO many videos and photos of Cali that I want to share with you. I keep filming little bits of training, socialisation and general puppy chaos and thinking “ooh, that would make such a good post…” I have about 682 ideas floating around in my head for things I want to explain and show you - I just currently seem to lack the brain capacity required to actually turn any of them into posts 🤦‍♀️

So if you’re waiting for Cali updates, graduation photos, wondering where the next Dogs Trust poem has got to, or waiting for me to catch up on something admin-y… I promise I haven’t forgotten! I’m just currently being defeated by a combination of germs, a 2 year old adorable dictator and approximately 5.4kg of pointy Whippet teeth.

Anyway, I mostly just thought I should let you all know that all those times I’ve reassured you that the puppy biting IS temporary, that it DOES get easier and that you WILL make it through…
Well, I could really do with you all parroting that back to me right now!!!

You might be a great fit if you:

• Are 16+ and can commit to Sunday afternoons for at least 3–6 months

• Have a genuine interest in dogs, behaviour and reward-based training

• Are friendly, approachable and non-judgemental - working with the people is just as important as working with the dogs!

• Have some experience being around dogs, even if that’s simply having your own

• Are reliable, keen to learn and happy to get stuck in with the practical jobs too

• Perhaps you’re studying an animal-related subject, work as a dog walker, are considering a career in dog training or simply want to gain hands-on experience.

• Have trained your own dog with CB Dogs and felt an affinity for the way we do things - a big bonus, but absolutely not essential.

🎄Get Cafe Ready Before Christmas! ☕🐾

It's not even Halloween yet BUT let's face it, Christmas will be upon us before we know it… which means festive coffees, pub trips, family get-togethers and more opportunities to take the dog along too - and it needs prep trust me!!

If the reality of taking your dog to a café involves them pulling towards everyone, barking at other dogs, trying to visit the next table or simply being completely baffled by the idea that you might sit still for half an hour… it might not feel quite so festive!

So we’re squeezing in another two-week Café Skills course this November, giving you time to build some useful skills before the Christmas chaos begins!

Ideal for those who have completed our Good Manners Course.

What will we work on?
Across the two weeks, we’ll practise the skills that can help make cafés, pubs and other dog-friendly outings calmer and more enjoyable for both of you.

The main focus of Café Skills is learning to settle on a blanket while you sit and get on with other things (like eating cake and drinking tea in Week Two!). We’ll also look at helping your dog cope when exciting things are happening around them by utilising the stay cue and long lasting chews.

And Importantly -
Training Starts BEFORE The Course!
As soon as you book and pay for your place, you’ll get access to your first bit of homework: teaching your dog to settle at home.

We really encourage you to start this straight away. The more practice your dog has had settling in the easy, familiar environment of home before the course begins, the more you’ll be able to get out of our two sessions together.

We can then help you take those foundations and practise them around the extra distractions of a café-style environment.

So you don't need to wait until November to get started - your Café Skills training begins as soon as you book! 🐾
