Enrichment box tutorial using daily allowance…

… think pass the parcel but dog food not sweets 👍🏼

Every summer people say, “But dogs live in hot countries and they’re fine.”

Yes… they do. But dogs living in hotter countries are usually adapted to those climates and lifestyles. Many rest during the hottest parts of the day, stay in shaded areas, and are only active early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures drop.

Most UK dogs are not acclimatised to prolonged heat like that. But especially flat-faced breeds, older dogs, overweight dogs, or dogs with thick coats.

And one of the biggest things people forget is pavement temperature. Even if the air temperature is 24 degrees, the ground beneath them can be significantly hotter.

Dogs also don’t cool themselves the same way humans do. They mainly rely on panting, which means they can overheat far more quickly than people realise.

Heatstroke in dogs is a genuine emergency and it can happen incredibly fast.

Don’t be like John… skip the walk! ❤️

Every single year I make a post about not walking your dog during peak temperatures in a heatwave… and every single year I still see dogs being walked in the middle of the day.

So I’ll keep making the posts. Because either people genuinely still don’t realise how dangerous heat can be for dogs, or some people simply don’t care… and I’d much rather believe it’s lack of awareness.

Reggie has not had a walk this lunch time. Instead I swapped his regular walk for some calm training and enrichment. And this is enough! He is done.

Heatstroke is a genuine emergency and it can happen incredibly fast.

Missing a walk on a hot day will not harm your dog. There are so many safer alternatives: enrichment games, frozen treats, paddling pools, scentwork or simply allowing them to rest!

Please be sensible ❤️

Let them sniff!!

For some dogs, ball is life! 🥎

But we all know that constant chasing and sudden stopping is not doing their joints any good! So here is an alternative game for your ball obsessed doggos.

Encouraging sniffing, practicing impulse control, and still with the reward of the best thing on earth… BALL!

Obi has been absolutely smashing his lead walking training 😍 Pretty good for a 10 month old boxer!

Imagine this for a moment…

You’re out on a walk with your dogs. They’re off lead, happily sniffing through the bushes ahead while you feel completely calm, relaxed, and confident they’ll come back when called.

No stress. No shouting. No panic.

Sounds magical? It’s not magic… it’s training, consistency, and building a relationship your dog can trust.

If you’d love calmer, more enjoyable walks with your dog, drop me a message 🐾

Isn’t Mia just the most beautiful shepherd you’ve ever seen? 😍

We are working through some issues that have crept in during adolescence such as reactivity on lead to dogs, people and some traffic. We have been working on bringing her arousal down in public spaces.

I am happy to report that so far we have had progression upon progression 😍
