It’s always disheartening to see dog groomers criticised for simply having a dog’s best interest at heart.
Severe matting causes discomfort, skin irritation, restricted circulation, and pain for the dog. In cases where a coat is heavily pelted, it is neither humane nor realistic to brush it out. Grooming appointments are scheduled to allow time for safe clipping, bathing, and styling — not prolonged de-matting procedures that may compromise a dog’s welfare.
Proper coat maintenance requires both regular professional grooming and consistent brushing at home, much like maintaining your own hair between salon appointments.
This is never about judgement — life gets busy, and routines can slip. However, it’s important to recognise that grooming is an essential part of a dog’s overall health and care.
Hair grows back, but your dog’s comfort and wellbeing should always come first. Your understanding is always appreciated🫶🏻
