🐴 We are heading to Scone Palace International Horse Trials tomorrow 💙

Our Clyde Vet Group team will be at the event all weekend, so if you're attending, be sure to stop by and say hello! Whether you're competing, supporting friends and family, or simply enjoying the action, we'd love to chat.

Here's who's on the stand on Thursday so you know who to look out for.

Alison Howie, Clinical Director, BVMS Cert AVP (ESO) MRCVS:
Alison graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2008, before working as an intern in the equine hospital at the Royal Veterinary College. She joined Clyde in 2010 and has since achieved her Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Equine Orthopaedics, as well as becoming our lead anaesthetist. Outside of work she is kept busy with her two young children and her smallholding. 💙

Katy Bredin, Senior Vet, BVM&S MRCVS:
Katy grew up on the Isle of Arran where she discovered her love of horses. She completed a Zoology degree at the University of Sheffield before going on to study Veterinary Medicine in Edinburgh. Katy moved to Newmarket to complete an equine internship at the Animal Health Trust which focused on lameness and research into pain behaviour in horses. She then began working as an equine vet in the Scottish Borders. Outside of work, she enjoys riding her horse Frodo, hiking, running, yoga, and walking her Jack Russel Freddie. 💙

Lindsey Maguire, Insurance Administrator:
Lindsey joined the team in 2020, after moving up from England. She has worked in customer liaison and support roles throughout her career, including the taking of emergency 999 calls. She is our insurance administrator and is the best to talk to about insurance queries. 💙

Did you know Atypical Myopathy is a risk in the autumn? 🍂

Atypical Myopathy poses a significant risk to equines, causing severe muscle dysfunction and potentially fatal consequences, particularly prevalent during autumn. The disorder stems from eating sycamore seeds, seedlings and leaves.

When eaten, they release a toxin that slows down the horse’s energy production in the muscle fibres. 🍁⛅

Early detection is paramount; be vigilant for signs such as weakness, muscle tremors, dark urine, recumbency/lying down and impaired mobility. Should you suspect Atypical Myopathy, promptly seek veterinary assistance by contacting 01555 660000
