🐝 Bee & Wasp Stings in Pets: What to Know 🐶🐱

Summer fun can sometimes bring unexpected visitors — like bees and wasps! 🐝 While most stings are just a painful nuisance, they can sometimes be dangerous for our furry friends. Here's how to recognize and treat stings in cats and dogs, and when it's time to call the vet 👇

🔍 Signs Your Pet May Have Been Stung:

-Sudden yelp, pawing at the face or licking a spot
-Swelling (commonly around the face, mouth, or paws)
-Redness or a visible stinger
-Hives or itchy skin
-Limping (if stung on a paw)
-Drooling or pawing at the mouth

🚨 Watch for Signs of a Serious Reaction (Seek Vet Help Immediately):

-Difficulty breathing
-Vomiting or diarrhoea
-Collapse or extreme lethargy
-Swelling that spreads rapidly
-Pale gums or cold limbs

🩹 What You Can Do at Home (for mild cases):

-Remove the stinger (if it's a bee) by gently scraping it out with a credit card — don’t squeeze it!
-Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
-Monitor closely for any signs of an allergic reaction.
-Call your vet before giving antihistamines — never dose without advice!

⚠️ When in doubt, call your vet. Even mild stings can turn serious quickly depending on your pet's sensitivity.

🐾 Keep your pets safe this season by watching them around flowers, bushes, and open bins where insects love to hang out.
