We are experiencing a power cut which we think is effecting most of Burford Lane. We are still here but unfortunately our phones will not work. We are working on getting them diverted so hope this is just a temporary disruption. In the mean time we will keep an eye on our emails or if you have an emergency just come straight down. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes anyone.

We’ve got an exciting update for you all… we did it!! 🥳

Even Alexi, who wasn’t sure he’d be able to take part because of a bad knee, powered through and completed it—what a legend! And we’re pleased to report all toenails are still intact too 😄

Georgie and Gemma want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to our chosen charities. Your support really means a lot.

We’ll pop the links in the comments again in case anyone would still like to donate. Thank you so much! 💙

📢 Important Update: EU Pet Travel Rules Changing (April 2026)

If you’re planning to travel to the EU with your pet, there’s an important update you need to be aware of.

From 22 April 2026, new EU regulations will change how pets travel from Great Britain (GB) to the EU.

🚫 EU Pet Passports:

EU pet passports will no longer be valid for GB residents travelling to the EU—even if they were issued in an EU country or Northern Ireland before this date.

👉 These passports will now only be valid for pet owners who are resident within the EU, meaning this change mainly affects GB-based travellers.

What you’ll need instead:

All GB residents travelling with a dog, cat, or ferret will need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by an Official Veterinarian.

✔️ Must be issued within 10 days of travel
✔️ Valid for entry into the EU for 10 days
✔️ Allows onward travel within the EU and return to GB for up to 4 months
✔️ Single-use only – a new AHC is required for every trip

🐾 Before you travel, make sure:

* Your pet is microchipped
* Your pet has a valid rabies vaccination
* Must be given at least 21 days before travel
* Typically valid for up to 3 years
* Dogs travelling to Finland, Ireland, Malta, or Norway must have a tapeworm treatment
* Given by a vet 1–5 days before travel

🇬🇧 Good news:

There are no changes to pet entry requirements back into Great Britain.

ℹ️ Travelling to Northern Ireland:

You no longer need an AHC. Instead, you’ll need to apply for a Pet Travel Document under the new NI pet travel scheme.

✅ Already booked your AHC?

Any Animal Health Certificates that are already booked will go ahead as planned—this new ruling does not affect existing appointments.

If you have any questions or need help arranging an AHC, feel free to get in touch 🐶✈️

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish our amazing nurses, Gemma and Georgie, the very best of luck as they take on the Manchester Marathon this Sunday 🏃‍♀️
They are running to raise funds for charities that are very close to their hearts. After months of dedicated training—despite neither of them considering themselves “runners” before—this challenge has become a real achievement. What started as a light-hearted comment last year (“if you do it, I’ll do it!”) has turned into an inspiring commitment.
We’re incredibly proud of them both! 💙
If you’d like to support Gemma and Georgie, please see the links below in the comments to their fundraising pages.
Wishing them a safe and successful run this Sunday—we’ll all be cheering you on!

Gemma is supporting a local cat charity “Cats Homing and Rescue”

Georgie is supporting Alzheimer’s Society and is running in memory of her Grandma and Grandad.

Good Morning! Our WiFi is down 📣
We apologise as this affects our computer systems and phone lines. We are doing everything we can to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
If you have an emergency please just make your way to the surgery.

05/03/2026

For a limited time only we’re offering 20% off the price of scale and polishes as well as any extractions.

Keeping your furry friend’s teeth and gums clean and healthy is so important. Plaque and bacteria build-up can lead to problems ranging from bad breath to tooth loss. Worse, toxins from bacteria can enter the bloodstream through the gums, potentially leading to other health issues.

Leaving problems will only lead to them getting worse – meaning higher bills for you and pain and discomfort for your pet.

A regular scale and polish is the best way to avoid this.

Don’t miss out!

Book your appointment now and keep your pet smiling! Call 01925 949 949 or ask at reception for more details.

Meet Bear and Moose 🐾

The top photo shows them enjoying a very special doggy play date — one that almost didn’t happen.

On 12th January, Bear was rushed into us after collapsing at home. After running further diagnostics, we discovered free fluid in his abdomen (suspected to be blood), and his blood tests showed he was already severely anaemic. Bear had a bleeding splenic mass and needed emergency, life-saving surgery to remove his entire spleen.

Knowing Bear would require a blood transfusion, our vet Rachel contacted one of our lovely patients, Moose’s owner — as we knew what a very good boy he is — and asked if he could come in to be a donor.

Thanks to Moose’s donation, Bear received the transfusion he desperately needed and went on to make a full recovery ❤️

Bear’s family were incredibly grateful and asked to be put in touch with Moose’s family so they could thank them personally. Recently, the two heroes finally got to meet properly and enjoy a well-deserved play date together.

Moments like this remind us just how special our patients — and their owners — truly are 💛🐶 🐾

We’re very pleased to introduce Ion who has recently joined our veterinary team.

Ion qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2006 and moved to the UK in 2017.

He enjoys all aspects of veterinary work with a particular interest in surgery and takes great pride in helping pets recover and return home feeling more comfortable.

As our practice has grown so much since opening, we wanted to expand the team to make sure we continue delivering the exceptional care you expect.

Ion is here to support Rachel, Alexi and Sean and help us look after our patients as we continue to grow.

We’re incredibly proud to have 518 five-star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google reviews and we remain fully committed to the personal independent care that has helped us build such strong relationships with our clients.

Ion is looking forward to meeting you and your pets very soon.

Corporate-owned practices charge, on average, 16% more than independent practices.

That was our main takeaway from the recent BBC Panorama coverage exploring why veterinary bills have risen across the UK.

We’re proud to be independently owned – our lead vet Rachel Dean has been in the Lymm community for many years and knows so many of our clients and their families.

Being independent and locally managed means decisions are made here by the team you know. We have the freedom of clinical choice to recommend the right care for you and your pet – considering your circumstances and budget, your pet’s temperament etc – with no sales targets and no pressure to upsell.

We believe great veterinary care should be high-quality, fair and accessible, and we work closely with our clients to find the right plan for their pet and their budget. We’ll always talk through options openly, explain costs clearly and help you make informed decisions without confusion or surprises.

As pet owners ourselves, we know how important it is to have veterinary care you can trust – care that combines clinical excellence, genuine compassion and clear communication every step of the way.

A clear sign that our clients trust our team? We have over 500 Google reviews with an average rating of 5 stars. You don’t see that often!

Independent. Locally managed. Transparent.

Thank you for supporting your local, independent vet practice.

Every day, more and more pets are moving to Burford Lane Vets. Registering with us is simple. Just complete the form and we’ll be in touch!
