📢 UPDATE: OUR MALINOIS TRAINERS REGISTER 🐾

We now have 17 professional trainers wanting to join our register! A member of the New Dawn team is working through the list, making contact with each one individually.

This register is being created as a practical, helpful resource — for owners, other rescues, and anyone responsible for a Malinois.

Our only requirement for trainers to be listed is that they can provide evidence of positive outcomes for the Malinois they have worked with and supported.

We include both force-free / positive only trainers and balanced trainers on our register. The choice of which trainer to work with remains entirely with the owner, rescue, or person responsible for the dog.

From our experience, general pet dog trainers and behaviourists often struggle to meet the specific needs of the Malinois breed. We believe having a dedicated list of trainers with proven experience with this breed will make a huge difference in helping these dogs thrive.

📢 CALLING ALL EXPERIENCED MALINOIS TRAINERS – JOIN OUR REGISTER! 🐾

We’re building a trusted UK-wide register of trainers who know and understand the unique needs of the Belgian Malinois – and we’d love you to be part of it!

Right now, we have 14 fantastic trainers signed up across the country, and we’re looking to expand our network even further. Our register is designed as a helpful resource for Malinois owners, making it easier for them to find a trainer whose experience, style, and approach matches what they and their dog need.

We are fully inclusive – welcoming both force-free and balanced trainers. While we don’t advocate for the routine use of tools like e-collars or prong collars, we recognise that in some specific circumstances, their careful and responsible use can improve a dog’s quality of life or even be life-saving.

Every trainer on our register will have their details shared clearly – including experience, location, training style, and costs – so owners have all the information they need to make an informed choice that’s right for them.

What is the register?

It will be an easily accessible document available on both our website and page, created specifically for Malinois owners. It lets you search for professional trainers who have proven experience and in-depth knowledge of this unique, special breed.

Important note

Please be aware: this register is NOT a list of trainers personally recommended or endorsed by us. Our role is only to verify that those included have the right experience with Malinois — the final choice of which trainer to use is entirely up to you as the owner.

How we verify trainers

When we make contact, we will confirm competence with the breed. We will ask for proof such as:
✅ Training videos
✅ References from past clients/owners

Anyone wishing to be listed will also need to provide a short summary including:

- Their background & experience
- Services they offer
- Costs / any discounts available
- Location they cover
- Link to their website or social media page

Why we created this

Our main goal is to share this resource with owners who are considering rehoming their dog. We hope having access to experienced trainers will encourage people to try working with a professional first, before making the difficult decision to part with their dog.

We also hope it will be helpful for all Malinois owners — whether you need support with challenges like reactivity or behaviour, or want training for a specific sport, activity or discipline.

Who can apply?

ALL trainers are welcome, no matter what training methods you use. Our only requirement is that you can show you have positive, proven experience working with Malinois.

It is with broken hearts that we share that Coal has peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Coal was such a special soul — striking, loyal, and full of character. As a Malinois, he had that wonderful intelligence and spirit that made him so unique, and though his journey wasn’t always easy, he spent his time with his adopters safe, loved, and cherished every single day. He touched so many hearts with his handsome looks and unique personality.He was his dad's best friend work partner and protector. We know he will leave a huge hole in his family's hearts and our rescue family.

Run free now, handsome old boy. No more pain, no more worries. You can run, play, and rest peacefully in the green fields at the bridge, waiting for the day you will meet your family again. You were so loved, and you will never, ever be forgotten. 🤍

Rehoming Your Dog with New Dawn: Our Updated Process

At New Dawn, we understand that making the decision to rehome a dog is incredibly difficult. As part of our recent restructure, we now offer two distinct pathways to help find the best possible outcome for your dog while working within our limited resources as a small, foster-based rescue.

Option 1: Full Rescue Space
Because our dogs live in family foster homes, we can only accept dogs that are socialized and manageable.

- Criteria: Dogs must be vaccinated and have basic training. We cannot accept dogs with significant reactivity, aggression, destructive behavior, separation anxiety, or a history of chasing livestock.
- Costs: A £100 relinquishment fee and owner to transport to the foster home. (Fees may be waived in genuine emergencies).
- Benefit: Full Rescue Back Up (RBU) and support for the new adopter.

Option 2: Assisted Rehoming Service
If we don’t have space or you wish to remain involved, we can manage the rehoming process while the dog stays with you.

- Process: After a £50 registration fee, we screen all applicants (home checks and references) and find the perfect match.
- Criteria: We do not assist with dogs that have a bite history or aggression issues.
- Benefit: Expert screening and advice for the new owner (Note: No RBU provided for this service).

Adoption Fees: £400 for dogs in our direct care; £100 for dogs via our assisted rehoming service.

As part of our ongoing revamp and restructure initiative, New Dawn is launching a dedicated Malinois Trainer Register.

We know that Belgian Malinois are incredible, high-drive dogs, but without the right guidance, owners can often feel overwhelmed. Our goal is to create a bridge between struggling owners and experts who truly understand the unique needs of this breed.

The Mission:
To provide owners with a directory of vetted professionals who can help them resolve behavioral or training issues. We want to empower owners to work through challenges, ultimately helping more dogs stay in their loving homes and reducing the number of surrenders to rescue.

What we are looking for:

- Trainers with proven experience and deep knowledge of the Malinois breed.
- Professionals who use effective, ethical training methods.
- Those who share our passion for breed preservation and rescue prevention.

While not a requirement, we are also looking for partners willing to offer a "Rescue Support" incentive—such as a discounted initial session or a free introductory lesson—to help get these owners on the right track quickly.

🐾 Calling All Professional Dog Trainers: Share Your Expertise! 🐾

Are you a professional trainer looking to make a massive impact on rescue dogs and the families who foster them?

Our rescue is looking for knowledgeable, experienced trainers willing to donate just one hour of their time, once a month, to provide online support and training guidance for our incredible foster heroes.

What we are looking for:
Fostering can be a challenge, and our fosters often need expert advice on settling new arrivals, basic manners, or working through specific behavioral hurdles. We are looking to build a network of professionals we can call upon for a monthly virtual "check-in" or Q&A session.

Our Training Philosophy:
At our rescue, we prioritize the safety of our dogs and the success of their placements. We advocate for and support balanced training methods. We believe in a holistic approach and understand that while positive reinforcement is a huge part of what we do, "force-free" methods are not always suitable or effective for every dog that enters our care.

Who should apply?

- We welcome trainers from all backgrounds, including force-free trainers, provided there is a mutual respect for our approach.
- You must be comfortable working within a framework where different training tools and methods may be used based on the individual dog's needs.
- You should be able to offer clear, actionable advice via Zoom or video call.

By donating just 60 minutes a month, you could be the reason a dog stays in a foster home and finds its forever family!
