LATEST UPDATE:
I’m having some problems with blocks on both the page and the inbox folks so please bear with it while I make sure it’s sorted now!! 😩

Back to good news! Malva, Moonpie & Mirrabee all have little ones in the nest and I’ll be posting a sneak peek of the new litters in a couple weeks when they emerge with peepers starting to open.

If you are already on the priority list then I’ll be in touch but if you aren’t but are interested in these kits then please drop a comment below over the next 3 weeks so that I can rest assured I haven’t missed anybody!
I’m not convinced that all messages have successfully reached me while the page was blocked ☹️

So excited to share the babies soon! 🐀

It’s been a month or so since I posted any updates so my apologies for that.
First of all, the little baby roof rats were able to be safely added to a nest of newborns after 5 days. Sadly the little runt didn’t make it 🥺
I also sadly lost my eldest dumbo girl, sweet Nora 💔

I’m having a bit of a rough time health wise so have delayed breeding Mirrabee and Moonpie (who are ready now, whenever I am 🙄 )

So I wanted to thank those who have been in contact to be added to the priority list. Thank you for your patience 🙏

I hope to be ready to crack on with the next generation, very soon 🐀 🍼 🌸

Thank you to everyone who collected their new dumbo babies this weekend. My apologies again for my tiredness but it was lovely to meet you all and see some familiar faces again.

I know Allura’s little ones will be enjoying all the attention after sharing me with the roofy kittens since Thursday!

Owlee & Kirra, who stayed, will continue to keep me busy aswell I’m sure 💖💖
Best of luck with your new family members 🐀 💛

Well wishes sent up would be greatly appreciated. Last week, the roof rat colony had to be split into sexes after reaching a population of 64 😵. During the individual trapping, sexing and sorting into two new setups which took 6 full days to accomplish, the first female caught escaped into the rat room.
I kept tabs on her via motion camera and named her ‘Rocket Rat’ since she was nesting in Hachi’s big cat tree, shaped like a rocket, until she moved on night 4.
When she was finally caught and added to the girl cage.. we discovered that she had stolen a bunch of plastics and made a big nest.
In this nest we found 3 kits 😭

I’m currently hand rearing until I can adopt the kits to another (undisturbed) nest.
Feeding hourly, the two males and a female are doing well but the little girl was a runt, couple grams smaller than her siblings.
Hoping they can all make it through to weaning after such hopeless timing of their birth 😔

Meet Rocket, before we knew what she had stashed in that nest.. and Teeter Tot, Booster & Norbert 💖🩵🩵 🤞
