Just a friendly reminder the salon is will be shut from Friday 19th July as I will be on holiday, so I won’t be taking calls.

When a dog is presented to us in a severely matted state it is our policy to shave the whole coat using close blade. De-matting would cause the dog tremendous stress and discomfort, Shaving the coat is quicker and much more gentler on the dog. Mats can be painful for the dog, harbor bacteria, and restrict movement. The Dog Welfare Act, or more commonly known as the Animal Welfare Act in some regions, is legislation aimed at protecting the welfare of animals, including dogs. It outlines provisions related to the care, handling, and treatment of animals to ensure they are kept in appropriate conditions and not subjected to unnecessary suffering.
Specifically regarding grooming, the act may include provisions related to grooming practices to prevent neglect or cruelty, such as addressing severe matting that can cause discomfort or health issues for the dog. However if this is necessary for your furry friend this will be discussed on arrival.

Regular grooming is key to preventing severe matting in dogs. This includes brushing your dog’s coat regularly, especially if they have long or thick fur. Use appropriate grooming tools for your dog’s coat type and length to remove loose hair and prevent tangles. Additionally, keeping your dog’s coat clean and dry can help reduce the likelihood of matting. If you notice any mats forming, address them promptly by gently working them out with a comb or brush before they become severe. Regular visits to a professional groomer can also help maintain your dog’s coat and prevent matting.🐶
