We have been asked to help find the perfect forever home for the lovely OJ. He is a 10 year old Border Terrier, neutered, chipped and up to date with his vaccinations.

OJ is being rehomed due to his owner going into full time care, and through no fault of his own. He is a much loved boy and we want a special retirement home for him.

OJ is used to being an only dog, but has been fine with other dogs out on walks, so may be able to live with another dog after introductions. He is used to visiting children 10+

Jason has performed miracles on some of the dogs we have had in over the years, from complicated diagnostics and treatments, to dealing with some of our less friendly dogs, he has not batted and eyelid and just got on with doing what he does best. The comments on Wood’s post will be full of similar stories, Jason Burgess is a true legend and while we’ll miss him, we wish him the very best in his retirement 🥰

Tomorrow marks another milestone for us all at Woods - and we are sure for many of you too. We will be wishing Jason well as he moves on to his retirement having dedicated 30 years to the practice, our team and all of our clients.

Whilst we are very sad to see Jason retiring from day to day practice at Woods, we do hope he enjoys his retirement to the fullest and that his family get to enjoy spending more time with him!

Please note that we will be closing our Quedgely site for all but strict emergencies tomorrow, 29th August from 2pm until 3pm so that we can give Jason the send off he deserves. Our Longlevens branch will be closed form 1.15pm until 3.30pm to allow those staff to attend also.

For everyone who has been asking about her, this is the girl we trapped. If you can offer her an experienced, quiet, adult only home with no cats, please consider giving her the life she deserves ❤️

This we are appealing for a special home for our special girl, Barbie, who was brought to the Shelter as a stray after being spotted roaming in fields over the course of several months.

Two-year-old Barbie is a sweet but sensitive lurcher who is still learning what life with humans is all about. At the moment she’s very anxious and doesn’t quite understand affection or touch just yet, but she’s already showing us how brave she is by accepting treats and even starting to show little signs of play.

Barbie’s also beginning to gain confidence walking on the lead. What started as a scary experience is now slowly turning into something positive for her, and with gentle guidance she’s learning that walkies can be enjoyable and not so frightening after all.

Barbie will need an adult-only home where she can take things at her own pace. She cannot live with cats (she finds them far too fun to chase!), but she could potentially live with another calm dog who can help show her the ropes.

What Barbie needs most right now is an experienced foster home, where she can begin to settle away from the kennel environment, build her confidence, and show us more of her true personality. With time, patience, and gentle encouragement, we know Barbie will blossom into a wonderful companion who can finally leave her tough past behind.

Young Gull covered in used Chinese cooking oil found outside Hilltop House Chinese in Southgate Street, no sign of any oil containers anywhere near it 😔 Now at Vale Wildlife where hopefully they can work their magic ❤️

Well we’ve had a busy July, 45 wildlife casualties either taken to Vale Wildlife or vets if they were suffering and unable to be healed. Vet visits for dogs in our care, and 3 emergency welfare visits. One tiny kitten saved and taken to our friends at KatKinz, and one very scared dog trapped. We do all of this voluntarily and mainly funded by ourselves, with only a few donations a month from loyal supporters.
