☀️ Warmer Weather Reminder ☀️
As we head into the warmer months, I’ll be monitoring each dog carefully during walks and visits 🐶
Please keep me updated on how your dog is coping with the warmer weather, as every dog and every day can be different.
On hotter days we may:
🐾 Do shorter walks
🐾 Spend more time in shaded areas
🐾 Swap walks for garden visits or quick toilet breaks if it’s really hot
I’ll always make sure dogs have:
💧 Fresh water
🌳 Access to shade and cool areas
🐕 Plenty of rest when needed
Dogs don’t sweat like we do - panting is their main way of cooling down, so it’s important to keep an eye on their body language and energy levels.
I’m also looking into making some DIY frozen treats for them 🍓🧊🐾

Just a little reminder that Calm N Paws will be on holiday from 16th to 25th May.
Normal service will resume on 26th.

First post of the year! 🐾

It’s been a little quiet on social media lately, but behind the scenes we’ve been busy with our solo walks and spending some time on professional development to continue improving the service and care I provide for your dogs.

Here are a few recent photos of some of our lovely solo guests (on the days I remember to take photos!).

I’m hoping to be a bit more consistent with posting updates this year so you can see more of what we get up to on our walks/care

Why I Chose the Name “Calm N Paws”

Believe it or not, my business name is actually more about humans than dogs.

I’ve always been deeply mindful of human emotion and frustration - long before I began working with dogs. Growing up, I was fascinated by human psychology, but eventually the canine path won me over (though I think the two go hand in hand!). I had my own dog growing up and loved caring for her. I even taught her to do a little “nose touch” to my finger - something I later learned is known more commonly/similar to a “hand touch” in training.

The “Calm” is for the human.

Before we even start training, it’s so important that we regulate ourselves first - to take a breather if we need to, to be kind to ourselves, and to remember that frustration is completely normal. We’re all human, and sometimes our ego or pride can get in the way without us even realizing it. But when we take time to pause, understand, and reset, we create the space to truly connect with our dogs.

Our dogs are incredibly sensitive to our emotions and energy. If we’re stressed or tense, they pick up on that right away. That’s why at Calm N Paws, there’s no pressure, no strict criteria to meet, and no judgment - just understanding, patience, and working at you and your dog’s own pace.💛🐾
