Puppy Class Vet Visit at St Clair Vets!

Tonight our puppy class had their special vet session at St Clair Veterinary Group!

We include a dedicated vet visit as part of every Kingdom Dog Training puppy course, giving owners the opportunity to ask questions while helping their puppies build positive experiences of the veterinary environment from a young age.

A huge thank you to Jo, the Practice Manager, who very kindly gave up her time to host a Q&A and share her knowledge with our puppy owners.

We covered so much, including:
🐶 When to neuter or spay, including the benefits and risks
🦷 How to introduce teeth brushing
🩺 How to check your puppy's body and keep an eye on their health
⚖️ Understanding healthy weight by checking ribs and waistline
🍽️ Fussy puppies and what to do when they won't eat
🌸 Signs of a puppy approaching her first season
🧠 Changes and regression in training as puppies develop

We had 8 puppies join us tonight and they were all super well behaved!

They also got to explore the practice, experience different equipment, go on the scales and simply spend time at the vets without anything scary happening.

These positive early experiences can make future vet visits much easier for both puppy and owner.

🐾 A busy day of 1-to-1 training! 🐾
Today I had two lovely 1-to-1 sessions — first with 9-week-old Maisy, starting her training journey nice and early, followed by a second session with the lovely Skye continuing to build on what we've already been working on. 🐶

One of the great things about 1 to 1 training is that every session can be tailored around you, your dog and the things you actually need help with at home and out on walks.
We can work on things like:
🐾 Settling and switching off
🐾 Puppy biting
🐾 Responding to their name
🐾 Leave it
🐾 Recall
🐾 Sleeping routines
🐾 Barking
🐾 Appropriate play
🐾 And plenty more!

Whether you've just brought home a new puppy or have an older dog who could use some extra guidance, 1 to 1 sessions give us the chance to focus on the areas that matter most to you.

At dog club this morning we were introducing the dogs and owners to doggy parkour.

Many benefits to these exercises such as teamwork, strengthening bond, becoming use to new environments, texture and increasing confidence.
Here we have Woody smashing the see saw 🐾🐾

We went along to visit 14 week old Maggie today for a 121 session before she joins classes next week.

Maggie has already learnt so much with Mum and Dad, we built on these foundations introducing, eye contact, Luring, Spin, Touch and Roll Over.

Can't wait to see little Maggie in class this week 😍
