Someone has posted on Another page that dogs are dying from being walked along the canal one thought is rat poison being laid by council not confirmed yet please do not walk your dogs along the canal and keep a very close eye on what there putting in there mouths

Remember Diwali tonight so more fireworks expected so do your dogs evening long walk earlier than normal and keep on lead with proper fitting harness or a collar that is not too loose.

Just to further Jeremy's point about retractable leashes. Having witnessed a dog die in front of me after being hit by a car when on a retractable leash, after having someone's leash wrap around my ankle causing me to seek medical help for a burn, and after seeing a large dog pull it's owner off their feet and being dragged into traffic. Just say NO- and switch it out for a regular one. Dog's nose is 100,000 times more sensitive than ours. They don't need to be 10 feet ahead of us. ~ Rachel

UPDATE... Vera is now home and recovering 🥰

🚨 ADDER ALERT – IRVINE BEACH PARK / SAND DUNES 🚨

Please be extra vigilant if walking your dogs in the Irvine Beach Park or sand dunes area.

🐾 My own spaniel, Vera, was bitten by an adder there this morning. She’s currently at the vets on a drip to flush out the venom — I’ll post an update once we know more.

If you suspect an adder bite, act fast and contact a vet immediately.

Signs of an adder bite in dogs:

1. 🐍 Swelling around the wound (often the face, legs, or paws)

2. 🔴 Bleeding or bruising

3. 😢 Signs of pain or distress

4. 🦶 Lameness or reluctance to move

Please keep your dogs close and avoid letting them run through long grass or dunes where adders might be basking.
