Every time your dog barks at the fence, they think it's working.

The neighbour walks away. The postman leaves. The dog next door disappears.
To your dog, barking made the problem go away.

That's why fence barking often gets worse over time—the more they practise it, the better they become at it.

The key isn't just stopping the barking. It's teaching your dog what to do instead and helping them make better choices in the garden.

This is something we regularly work on in our 121 training sessions, creating a plan tailored to your dog's specific needs.

Why does my puppy bark so much?

Barking is normal communication. Your puppy may be excited, frustrated, worried, over-tired, or simply looking for attention.

The secret isn't stopping the bark. It's understanding what's causing it.

When owners learn how to meet their puppy's needs and reward calm behaviour, barking often improves naturally.

How long does it take to toilet train a puppy?

Every puppy is different, but toilet training is a process, not an event. Most puppies need consistent routines, supervision, and plenty of opportunities to get it right.

Accidents aren't usually stubbornness—they're information. They tell us our puppy needs more support.

In my puppy classes, I help owners create a realistic toilet-training plan that works for their lifestyle.

Walking multiple dogs isn't always the picture-perfect adventure people imagine. Some days it's tangled leads, different walking speeds, distractions around every corner, and trying to keep everyone happy and safe at the same time. It can be physically and mentally exhausting.

Having an extra pair of hands can make all the difference. Whether it's support with training, managing the group, or simply sharing the responsibility, walks become calmer, more enjoyable, and less stressful for both you and your dogs.

You don't have to do it all alone. Sometimes a little help is all it takes to bring the joy back into your walks. 🐾

🐾 When Do Puppies Stop Biting? 🐾

One of the most common questions I hear from new puppy owners is:
"When will my puppy stop biting?"

The short answer? Most puppies start to significantly reduce their mouthing and biting between 5–7 months of age as their adult teeth come through and they develop better impulse control.

However, biting doesn't magically disappear with age. Puppies use their mouths to explore the world, play, communicate, and cope with teething discomfort. Without guidance, some puppies can continue nipping well beyond puppyhood.

If your puppy is:

🐶 Biting hands and clothes during play 🐶 Turning into a "land shark" in the evenings
🐶 Struggling to settle
🐶 Getting overexcited around people

They're not being naughty—they're behaving like puppies. The key is teaching them what to do instead.

In my puppy classes, I help owners understand why puppies bite, how to manage teething, build calm behaviours, and teach appropriate ways for puppies to interact with people.

The earlier you start, the easier it is to prevent those sharp puppy teeth from becoming a long-term habit.

📅 If you're struggling with puppy biting, my puppy training classes can help you build a calmer, more confident puppy while making life much more enjoyable for the whole family.

Today's Playschool class was packed with learning and fun! 🐾

Our pups worked on some important foundation skills, including food bowl manners, building engagement through eye contact, and putting their noses to work with a scent game. 👀🐶👃

These activities help develop self-control, focus, confidence, and problem-solving skills, all while having a great time with their handlers and furry friends.

Well done everyone – your pups are making fantastic progress! 🌟

Today’s Adventure Paws looked a little more like training than adventure – and that was exactly what this boy and girl needed. 🐾

We worked on recall using a long line with one handler managing both dogs, focusing on building engagement, focus, and staying close while out on walks. We also added some impulse control work around the ball for a bit of fun and challenge. 🎾

A big part of today was recognising that every dog is an individual. These two do plenty of training, so it’s just as important to notice when they need a break as it is to ask for more.

We built in plenty of downtime throughout the six hour session, giving them space to switch off, settle and recharge. Rather than pushing through, we listened to what they were communicating.

An overtired or overstimulated dog is far more likely to make poor choices, so giving them time to decompress is an important part of the process.

Sometimes the best progress comes from slowing things down, not speeding them up.

A great day of learning 🤎🖤

Today’s private 121 involved me casually laying a scent trail like it’s the most normal thing in the world… very undercover, slightly dodgy, definitely essential work.

Your dog already knows the basics… but real life isn’t a quiet training hall.

✔ Reliable recall when life gets exciting
✔ Better engagement on walks
✔ Polite manners in real-world situations (not just at home)

listening past another dog, a squirrel, or a dropped sausage roll is something else entirely 🐶
