Species Spotlight - Horse Faced Loach - in store now!

This peculiar looking loach is an excellent addition to most bigger oddball aquariums, with a size of upto 20cm long and a deep body they certainly are not for nano tanks. These loach come from the sandy/ silty riverbeds of Malaysia in which they love to burrow and hide often with just their elongated faces poking out of the sand.

Due to their burrowing nature a regular planted tank would be destroyed but if you have species of plants that grow on wood like Anubias, Java Ferns or Buccephalandra they should be left well alone. Fish like Barbs, Danio, Rainbows and larger Rasbora make excellent tank mates as they fit the 23 - 27 degrees temperature range. Hiding places and shaded areas are appreciated as well as adequately oxygenated water. The loach will eat pellet, granular, frozen food and wafers.
