We’re on the lookout for stallholders and class sponsors for the Meads Marvellous Mutts: Fun Dog Show on Sunday 12th July at Meads Hall (BN20 7QL).

This joyful community event celebrates dogs, their stories and their sparkle, and we’d love local creatives, small businesses and dog‑friendly brands to be part of it.

🐾💛 A Quiet Word from Scamp 💛🐾

I’m not my usual sassy self today. My tail’s a little lower, my paws a little slower.
Mum told me the sad news that Ted from Gone Fishing has gone over the rainbow bridge… and it’s sat heavy on my little dog heart.

I only met him once, at the Kennel Club, but oh, he was special. A true gent. Soft eyes, kind soul, the sort of dog who made the whole room feel calmer just by being in it. I remember thinking, that’s a wise old dog who understands the world.

He had this quiet dignity about him… the kind that stays with you long after you’ve walked away.

I know he’ll be missed by so many humans and woofs who loved watching him on screen. He brought comfort, joy, and that gentle magic only a good dog can bring.

Run free, Ted.
The fields are soft, the sun is warm, and you’ve earned your rest.

Darlings, it’s Scamp here - freshly brushed, mildly overexcited, and feeling ever so fancy after appearing in the Eastbourne Herald.

A huge tail‑thump of thanks to the lovely Megan for writing such a gorgeous piece about the launch of my book, 'Scamp’s Free Guide to Dog Friendly Eastbourne'. She captured my best angles (all of them) and made me sound even more fabulous than I already am. Iconic behaviour.

Now… about those books.
We only printed 250 copies to start with - you know, just in case Mum needed to tweak a comma or I demanded more photos of my good side. Well, those have almost trotted off to new homes already, but you can still sniff out the last few at:

🐾𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽’𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱‑𝗨𝗽 🐾

Well my lovelies, sorry for the radio silence over the last few days … but gather round. I’ve had a 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗗 . A weekend so full of drama, glamour, sausages and celebrity encounters that I may need a lie‑down on my velvet cushion.

𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬:
So. Mum and Dad trotted off to Worthing without me. Yes, WITHOUT ME. And where were they going? Only to my favourite pizza palace, Oreganos. For a birthday treat for Mum’s niece.
I was miffed. Outraged. Betrayed. Practising my ‘how could you’ face.

But then…
Uncle Darren from PawPals - Eastbourne and Hailsham, arrived. My hero. My playmate. My bringer of joy. Suddenly the betrayal melted away and I was living my best life zooming around the house.

And THEN - oh, the plot twist - Mum and Dad returned from Worthing with treasures from Aries Dog Boutique. Two, yes TWO, gorgeous little animal print outfits for me (as modelled in the photos, you’re welcome). The boys got cat grass, which they’re thrilled about in their own mysterious way, but whatever ....

Apparently Aries also stock those fabulous Joules yellow raincoats with the blue‑and‑white stripe lining. I’m now saving my pennies and sending Mum and Dad very strong ‘take me to Worthing’ vibes.

𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗔𝗬:
Lunch at The Kiosk. Lovely weather. Lovely people. Lovely sausage (obviously).
And who should be there but the person formerly known as Eddie Izzard . Naturally, I had my photo taken with her - she was delightful - and then I secured my sausage. Priorities.

𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬:
Yesterday I trotted off to the Meads Makers Market Spring Fair at Meads Hall. A fabulous bustle of humans, crafts, chatter, doggies always fussed over … and a rumour.
A rumour of sausage rolls.
I investigated thoroughly. For the community. Yum!

Afterwards Mum and Dad took me for a walk down the high street. I was feeling a bit peckish so veered in towards The Ship Inn – they didn’t complain. They quenched lagers, I inhaled sweet potato fries.

So yes - it’s been a whirlwind of fashion, fame, food and fair‑going. I am exhausted. I am glamorous. I am ready for my next snack.

🐾💁‍♀️ Scamp’s Big‑Day Dispatch 💁‍♀️🐾

Well darlings… I’ve had quite the day. Honestly, I don’t know how I cope with being this popular, but I do it for you.

First up, the lovely Megan from the Herald popped round for a chat about my book. Yes, MY book. I greeted her with my best, author at work face, thoughtful, wise, slightly windswept. She was charmed. Obviously.

Then it was off on our usual morning trot around the village.

Afterwards while Grumpy and Tycho stayed home with lickymats and treats to keep them out of mischief. (You’re welcome, household.)
Mum, Dad and I headed to the Arlington Bluebell Walk, where I was treated to a delicious lunch in the café.

Today’s culinary heroes were the wonderful East Sussex Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service, raising money with food so scrummy it should probably be illegal. The cakes? Don’t get me started. I may have given mums biscoff sponge a very longing stare.

Post‑lunch, I took a leisurely stroll, and by stroll, I mean regal glide, through carpets of bluebells and wood anemones. The whole place was absolutely stunning. I sniffed every sniff worth sniffing.

If you haven’t been yet, trot yourselves over soon — the bluebells are at their absolute best right now, and the walks are open daily until 10th May, with different charities running the café each day. Go for the flowers, stay for the cake, tell them Scamp sent you.

Right then. I’m off for a well‑earned nap. Being fabulous is exhausting. 💅🐶✨

🐾 Scamp’s Sausage‑Powered Saturday Update

Wow! I have just experienced culinary greatness. A gigantic bowl of hot dog sausages at Kessa Coffee House, truly a feast fit for the icon that I am. I ate them with the elegance of a seasoned professional (translation: inhaled them).

Mum and Dad’s food looked rather fabulous too. I gave them my best, I could help you with that eyes, but apparently the sausage mountain was 'enough for one small dog'. Rude.

Anyway, now that I’m fully fuelled and looking fabulous, I’m off on an important mission: birthday pressie shopping. If you see a determined little pedenco x trotting through town with purpose and attitude… that’s me.

Wish me luck — shopping is serious business when you have tiny paws and big opinions. 🐶✨

I’ve just heard that Freedom Fields is opening a brand‑new space in Hankham, and honestly… I’m already doing zoomies in anticipation.

I’ve conquered their original field. I’ve inspected the Battle ones (10/10, excellent sniffing opportunities). And now? A whole new field for me to grace with my paws.

Fresh grass. New scents. Untouched zoomie terrain.
I simply must be the first to leave a perfectly placed pawprint.

Hankham, prepare yourself.

Bring your pet to see Santa (and Mrs Paws!!!!) on Sunday 14th December in Meads Hall, Eastbourne, BN20 7QL 11am to 3pm.

Pets will receive a goodie bag with treats, a pressie and certificate. You get a great photo opportunity and a chance to complete your Christmas shopping at an amazing Arts and Crafts Fair showcasing a wide variety of local talent.

Entrance to the Fair is free. Tickets for Santa Paws are £5 and Santa is donating all of the profits to Give a Dog a Home UK to help pay the kennel fees for a very sad little rescue dog called Ice so she can have a chance of a happy life with a forever family.
