It’s a tough time of the year for dog walking, rain and mud! We’re lucky in Pevensey Bay as got the beach so at least we can be free of mud, even if the rain is lashing! A great game to entertain your dogs is to bring a handful of dry treats which you can sprinkle over the pebbles for the dog/s to find. Dogs excel at using their noses and can be a better exercise than a long walk. Obviously make sure that there are no harmful items on the area you scatter the treats.

2022 been such an eventful year, a lot of depressing events around the world but personally I have been immensely fortunate. Years after gaining my Adv diploma in canine behaviour management, and mainly focusing on training my own dogs , I finally set out to start up Pevensey dog training.
I have met and worked with such a variety of great dogs and owners who wants the absolute best for their canine friends. I’ve started classes in our local village hall as well as outdoors in a secure field. I’ve had great support from some fantastic friends ,Cathy at Cathy’s K9 capers and Marianne at Battle dogs training have gone above and beyond with their encouragement and support. These pics are this week’s pick of fabulous clients 👏👏👏 and my own Fab Four 🥰
Bring on 2023, starting with adding more feathers to my cap by attending further courses to ensure I have fresh ideas and have the opportunity to share knowledge/ ideas with other dog trainers and behaviourist

I thought I should introduce my current pack ❤️ Aged from 15 to 2 1/2 yrs old . Over the years I’ve dabbled in all sorts of dog sports. At the moment I mainly focus on competitive obedience and a bit of cani-x. I find doing anything with my dogs immensely rewarding for me and my dogs.. Frustrating at times but that’s because we continue to learn all the time, and we’re only humans, and my dogs are definitely dogs 😄🐶 Taking part in dog sports have introduced me to a huge amount of new friends, and given me opportunity to travel and showcasing my dogs at Crufts a few times.
Hope you are all enjoying your canine friends. Hard to find a more loyal companion! ❤️

It’s been a really busy summer, despite the heat I’ve managed to see lots of clients with their wonderful of dogs. We have worked in shady gardens, hired safe fields with shade and worked on relationship building, basic training, finding games to play during warm days. I’ve brought my own dogs as stooge dogs, which they have taken in their stride.
I’ve also added a certificate in puppy training to my adv diploma in canine behaviour management. I did this with Compass education again as they absolutely stand out as providing first class distance learning professional courses that are recognised and accredited by a number of academic organisations. Attached is small selection of what’s been happening in last couple of months 🐾❤️

When you’re this striking it’s hard to be ignored! Unsurprisingly, like many dogs, she does not really like strangers coming up patting her.. and she can find some dogs over exciting. She’s a beautiful soul who’s owners needed reassurance that they are doing really well with her, they’ve been fed so much negativity with regards of her breeding that they started to believe this rather than seeing what they have in front of them. She’s only 6 months old, GSD/ husky cross who is entering a challenging age. Lots of work ahead, but isn’t there always?
We’re here to protect our dogs, make them feel safe in our very busy world., sometimes this means stand your ground and tell people to leave your dog alone, I don’t want a random person patting me! This dog has not done anything to anyone apart from bark when strangers go up to her, owners then been told she’s a liability. We’ve worked on this and plans been made.
This lovely girl needs a job, a focus and she would excel, the owners are exploring this now.

Tough day at work 😀.. two very different young dogs today, equally nice, just very different needs. Each unique and need a holistic approach that’s suitable for the breed , age, temperament and the family they live with 🐾❤️

Tuesdays at 6 and 7pm
6 weeks course is £60 payable in advance

Welcome to Pevensey Dog Training classes. I’m Susanne Crowhurst and I have lived with, and trained dogs for the past 18 years. I have a qualification in Canine behaviour management (Advanced diploma, merit) and a certificate in puppy training. The aim of my puppy class, and the follow on class, is for owner and dog to build a great relationship, based on reward based positive training. The classes are not for puppies/dogs to come and play with each other, but to feel happy, confident in a setting where there are other dogs and people, that’s the purpose of socialisation. The puppies/dogs should stay focused on the owner whilst we train. Training=games with dogs = FUN😊
The aim of the class is to train focus, loose lead walking, sit, down, stay, recall, being groomed, controlled play and taking food in a polite manner, leave it, settle, all whilst learning to be socialised with dogs and people in a safe environment. There will be a maximum of 6 puppies/dogs in each class.
All dogs must be fully vaccinated.
Do not bring dogs that:
-has been in contact with Kennel Cough
-bitch is in season
-is recovering from surgery
-been unwell with diarrhoea in past 48hrs.

The classes are not aimed at individual behaviour issues, such as reactivity to dogs, excessive barking, guarding etc, these are issues that should be on a 121 training before dog comes to class. I’m available for 121 behaviour consultations if needed. This would be carried out at clients’ own home.
