🐴 Worming the Smart Way 🧪
We’re excited to share that we now carry out AI-powered faecal egg count (FEC) testing in-house, allowing us to take a targeted, evidence-based approach to worming.
Our journey into AI FEC testing began when we first saw it demonstrated by Kym Griffin and Ashley Robinson, both lecturers from Cafre Enniskillen Campus , who visited our yard during the BHS Ireland Horse Health Day we hosted back in September.
Ashley also owns and runs EFEC Nutrition , bringing valuable industry knowledge alongside academic expertise.
Following this visit, we signed up to and completed training with FECPAK and the Dragon Lab Academy, giving us the confidence, knowledge, and tools to now run accurate AI FEC testing on site.
✨ Why this matters:
• Not every horse needs worming at the same time
• Faecal testing identifies which horses actually require treatment
• Reduces unnecessary use of wormers
• Helps combat wormer resistance
• Supports better gut health and overall wellbeing
By using AI faecal testing, we get fast, reliable results without delay — meaning informed decisions, healthier horses, and a more sustainable worming programme.
🐎 Targeted worming = healthier horses, healthier pasture.
It’s so important to never stop learning from each other — sharing knowledge and experiences is key to improving horse health and welfare. Thanks to Kym & Ashley and to BHS Ireland & Cafre Enniskillen Campus for educating & inspiring us into a more positive pro-active worm management plan for our horses
💚 Always learning. Always improving.
