The moment Duke realised his deciduous teeth (baby teeth) were a problem👉🏼👀🦷

☀️ Today’s temperatures are a reminder that hot weather can quickly become dangerous for our pets.

Heatstroke can happen much faster than many people realise, especially during walks, in gardens, or even in warm cars.

Please keep an eye out for signs of heat exposure:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Rapid breathing
🐾 Red or purple gums
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Weakness or wobbliness

If your pet seems unwell in the heat, move them somewhere cool, offer water, and contact your vet straight away.

🐶 Remember, no dog has ever been harmed by missing one walk, but dogs can become critically ill from exercising in the heat.

Stay safe, keep walks short and during cooler parts of the day, and make sure pets always have access to shade and fresh water💛

☀️ Temperatures are set to soar this Bank Holiday weekend, and while many of us will be enjoying the sunshine, the hot weather can pose serious risks to our pets.

Every year, our veterinary teams see cases of heatstroke and dehydration that can become life-threatening very quickly. Dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets can all struggle in high temperatures, so it's important to take extra precautions to keep them safe.

🐾 Walk dogs during the cooler parts of the day
💧 Make sure pets always have access to fresh water
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and cool resting areas
🚗 Never leave pets in cars, conservatories or poorly ventilated spaces
🔥 Check pavements and artificial grass before walks to avoid burnt paws

Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbliness or collapse.

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them somewhere cool, offer water and contact your veterinary practice immediately for advice.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly with your pets. ❤️
