Pet of the weeeeeek this week is Zeus! ❤TPLO stands for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy. When a dog tears this ligament, their knee becomes unstable and painful. TPLO surgery works by changing the angle of the bone in the leg (the tibia), so the knee becomes stable again—even without the ligament.

The vet cuts the bone, rotates it slightly, and holds it in place with a metal plate and screws. Over time, the bone heals in this new position, and the dog can walk and run again without pain.

Zeus has been extremely brave and this is a big surgery for a big dog. He has been so patient whilst he was staying in hospital and during the journey to and from the amazing hospital that performed his surgery.

A new addition to our VCA team, meet Tegan! 🤗
Veterinary Care Assistant play an essential role in the day-to-day running of our practices, they provide support in caring for pets, including walks and playtime, maintaining high clinical standards.
The role provides the perfect introduction for those wanting to pursue a career in veterinary nursing and is usually the first step to becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse. 🩺
A little bit about Tegan: 'I joined Medivet in June 2025. I enjoy contemporary dance, listening to music, fashion and I also do pilates.
I enjoy reading also, and my favourite genre is romance.
I have a miniature dachshund named Dobby and a shar-pei called Koda.' ❤

From handling a busy switchboard and arranging appointments to taking payments, entering test results, ensuring the consult rooms are fully stocked all whilst keeping the reception and waiting areas look their best at all times 👏🏻

"I joined Medivet in June 2025. I started working in the animal care industry 6 years ago as I am a qualified dog groomer and hydro therapist.
I enjoy spending time with my family, and my dog Bailey.
In my spare time I love to read and I am loving running also."

Meet the gorgeous Willow, this week’s superstar at Dogwood Referrals! 💖

Willow had a rare condition called Pes Varus, causing her leg to bend inward, something we occasionally see in dachshunds 🐶.

Working with Fusion Implants, we used custom-made guides to plan and perform surgery that straightened her leg with precision.
She’s now healing brilliantly and already back to her cheeky self! 💪💕

Angel 😇🩶

Medici went to Southend 24HR with a broken nail bed, causing him to be painful and uncomfortable, all while limping from his sore paw. 🥺
With help from the nurses, and Angelina, (and of course Medici being so brave), we were able to clean him up and give him a bandage to ensure that his toe was protected. 🩺🩹
He has been so patient and brave, regularly coming back for bandage changes with the help of his caring owners also. Every day his toe is healing and hopefully Medici will be back to full health in no time❤

Meet Nicole! She has recently graduated from the University of Surrey 👩‍🎓🎓
After years of dedication, studying, and hands-on experience, Nicole is now stepping into the profession she’s worked so hard for. On August 18th, she’ll begin her first role in practice, where she’ll be caring for patients, supporting families, and continuing to grow as a compassionate and skilled vet. 🩺❤
We cannot wait for everyone to meet her and to have another friendly face here in clinic. We hope that this will be super beneficial for allowing for more appointments and procedures to help allow us to care for more of your lovely pets! 🐶🐱🐹🐰🐭🐢🐀🐦

Everyone, meet Addie! 🐶

Addie popped in to see us as her owners were concerned about a lump that had appeared. After a careful examination, the team suggested Addie have surgery to remove the lump and she is now recovering and doing well.
