We have had a few enquiries this morning about what to do in the event of power loss due to storms and bad weather.

If the electricity supply to your house goes out, the enclosure will be unheated, and its lights will go off. The animal will assume it is night time, and will soon assume their usual night time routine. This is normal, and not something to worry about. Keep the door to the enclosure closed, so that it can retain its heat for as long as possible. Do not open the enclosure door to check on the animal, as you will waste the remaining heat in the enclosure. On cold days, if possible, close doors and windows, to keep the heat in that room. If power loss is significantly long, such as several hours, you will need to consider alternative heating arrangements, such as using a gas powered heater in the same room (but away from animals), or attaching a hot water bottle heated using a gas stove to the ceiling of the animal's enclosure. When power returns, give your animal a chance to warm up before checking on it.
