🍓🐢 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐲’𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩! 🐢🍓

We think it’s safe to say that Timmy the African Sulcata Tortoise has become quite the celebrity here at Briar House! 😍

Timmy regularly visits our lovely vet, Cellina, for his health checks to help ensure he’s staying happy, healthy, and thriving. Regular health checks are incredibly important for tortoises, as they are experts at hiding signs of illness and can often appear normal even when something isn’t quite right. 🩺🐢

During his latest visit, Timmy enjoyed plenty of attention from RVNs Annabelle and Kacey, who were more than happy to provide a few extra cuddles and fusses. 💚

And if you watch the video, you’ll see Timmy enjoying what might just be his favourite part of the appointment… his strawberries! 🍓😋

African Sulcata Tortoises are the third-largest tortoise species in the world and can live for many decades with the correct care, making routine health checks an important part of keeping these incredible reptiles in the best possible condition throughout their long lives. 🌍✨

We absolutely love seeing Timmy’s cheerful little face when he visits us, and we have to admit, watching him enjoy his snacks might just be the highlight of our day! 🥹🐢

This lovely older gentleman was found in Westgate and is currently safe with us.

He is microchipped, but unfortunately the details are not up to date and the phone number registered is no longer in service.

Given his age, we are concerned that he may have a family desperately looking for him, and he could potentially have ongoing medical conditions or medications that he needs.

If you recognise him, or know who he belongs to, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We’d really love to get him safely back home where he belongs. ❤️

Throughout May, we’ve loved sharing a little glimpse into the world of veterinary nursing and celebrating the incredible people who make up our nursing and support teams here at Briar House. ✨

From surgical monitoring and emergency care, to inpatient cuddles, nurse clinics, diagnostics, rehabilitation, client support, and everything in between - veterinary nurses are involved in almost every part of your pet’s care journey. 🩺🐶🐱🐰🦎

They are advocates, carers, anaesthetists, educators, comforters, emergency responders, and emotional support for both pets and owners - often all within the same shift. 💙

This month has been a wonderful opportunity to recognise the skill, compassion, resilience, and dedication veterinary nurses bring to practice every single day.

This beautiful Cockapoo, Honey, came into us for her spay procedure this week and completely charmed the entire team from the moment she arrived. Calm, cuddly, and incredibly sweet, Honey was the definition of a gold-star patient. 🌟🐾

Lovely Daphne the rabbit, from the RSPCA Isle of Thanet branch, came into us last week for a dental procedure with Vet Enrico, and she was such a brave girl throughout her stay. 💚

Following her procedure, Daphne enjoyed lots of cuddles and close monitoring from RVN Cat while she recovered comfortably. 🥹🐰

Did you know rabbit teeth grow continuously throughout their entire lives? 🌿 Because of this, rabbits are very prone to dental problems if their teeth do not wear down properly. Overgrown teeth can cause:

These absolutely gorgeous German Shepherd puppies recently came into us for their first vaccinations and health checks before heading off to their forever homes 🏡✨ - and safe to say they completely stole everyone’s hearts.
