Be careful in this warm summer weather! 🐾☀️
Whilst we may enjoy the heat and sun that this time of year can bring, our pets can find it less enjoyable. Here are a few tips on how to keep your dog (or cat) cool this summer:
- Provide shade and water - Make sure your pet has access to shade and plenty of fresh water throughout the day.
- Know the signs of heatstroke and cooling first aid - The ability to identify if your dog/cat is overheating and knowing how to administer cooling first aid could be lifesaving. Keep reading to learn more about this.
- Don't let your pet get burnt - Keep your pet out of direct sunlight where you can. Use pet-safe sun cream on exposed parts of your dog’s skin (or cats), like the tips of their ears and nose. Ask your vet for more advice if needed.
- Plan ahead for adventures – Check the weather in advance and take your dog out at cooler times in the day – early morning or late evening. And if you're planning a day out somewhere, check whether dogs are welcome.
