Langford Vet Practice Langford Vets University of Bristol

Langford Vet Practice Langford Vets University of Bristol Langford Vets Small Animal Practice provides veterinary services to pet owners. Students always work under the supervision of our vets and qualified nurses.

We are a dedicated first opinion small animal practice and maintain the ‘family feel’ for our patients and clients. Our staff have years of experience with pets and as a part of this we have the added advantage of access to the facilities and expertise of the Small Animal Hospital (www.facebook.com/langfordvetssah) who offer a wide variety of specialist services. Our high standard of care is enhan

ced by the good relationship the practice has with the hospital and its consultants. Langford Veterinary Services runs the practice to teach University of Bristol final year veterinary students and student veterinary nurses the skills required in general practice. Consultation times may be slightly longer but in our experience clients enjoy being part of the learning process and being involved in the discussions and decision making with the veterinary students.

Dog Friendly Team🐕🐾

We’re excited to share another wonderful milestone for Langford Vet Practice. Following our recent accreditation as a Dog Friendly Clinic with Dogs Trust, we’re proud to introduce our brand‑new Dog Advocate Team.

Creating calm, positive and tail‑wagging experiences for our canine patients has always been at the heart of what we do. During the accreditation process, our dedicated Dog Friendly Advocates showcased the many ways we reduce fear and stress for dogs visiting our practice. This included demonstrating how we tailor care to each patient’s needs — from thoughtful handling techniques to kennel adaptations such as covered spaces, rubber matting to prevent slipping, raised bowls and cosy bedding.

A huge congratulations to our fantastic team for their hard work, passion and commitment in making this achievement possible. Their efforts continue to help us provide the very best experience for every dog who walks through our doors. 🐶

Hedgehog & Hoglets! 🦔

Lovely hedgehog and her babies (which are actually called Hoglets!) came in today for a quick check-up. They were brought in by a local wildlife rescue, our nurses did a quick examination and they'll be sent back to the rescue until theyre ready to be released.

Thanks for visiting us little hedgehogs!

How sweet! This lady came in for her first vaccinations and a quick check-up.

Rosie is an Irish Terrier, a unique breed that we don’t get very often in the vet clinic. She was an absolute delight, and we wish her all the best in her new home. 🏡❤️

Skippy 🐑💕

Not your average patient for a first opinion practice!

This wonderful sheep is called Skippy, a Shetland lamb who was brought in by Langford Farm Animal Practice.

We teamed up together to help operate, as Skippy required a leg amputation and castration – something a little different from our usual day-to-day cases.

This sweet boy has made an incredible recovery and is now safely at home. A special thanks to those in the LVP team, the FAP team and all who were involved to make sure this little lamb was happy and healthy. 🩺✨

Super sweet Bailey came into LVP today for a routine spay

Bailey was a good girl but wanted some extra cuddles. Our work experience student was on hand to assist. Bailey was grateful to be assigned her very own comfort human! Bailey was a pleasure to have at the practice and we wish her the best with her recovery.

The Power of Transparency: What Vets and Owners Really Think

Researchers from the University of Bristol are carrying out a new study with a view to helping optimise the relationship between vets and clients, ensuring every pet receives the best possible care.

The study, “The Power of Transparency: What Vets and Owners Really Think" is being run by the University of Bristol with support from Langford Vets, with the researchers asking pet owners to share their perspectives through a quick, anonymous online survey.

“We are living in a century defined by rapid and abundant communication, yet there is surprisingly no data on how veterinary professionals and pet owners actually communicate with one another,” said project lead Dr Latifa Khenissi, Senior Clinician in Anaesthesia and Analgesia.

“By sharing your views, you’ll be helping to build a more transparent, supportive and effective environment for pets, owners and veterinarians alike,” Dr Khenissi explained.

The aim is to find out how pet owners would prefer vets communicate with them, particularly around complex topics such as care decisions, expectations, and emotional impact.

The study comprises two questionnaires: one for pet owners and another for vets to explore the importance of transparency in their communication with pet owners, with a view to making them more clearly aligned in the future.

Follow the link to complete the questionnaire.

The survey will be open for six months.
