☀ Did you know that certain dogs struggle more in the heat than others? ☀
🐶 Flat-faced breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs & French Bulldogs)
These breeds already have difficulty cooling themselves because of their shortened airways.
🐾 Elderly dogs
Older dogs can struggle to regulate body temperature and may tire much quicker in the heat.
🦴 Puppies
Young dogs are less able to cope with extreme temperatures and can become dehydrated rapidly.
⚖️ Overweight dogs
Extra weight makes it harder for the body to stay cool and puts more strain on breathing and the heart.
🖤 Thick-coated or dark-coloured dogs
Heavy coats trap heat, while darker fur absorbs more sunlight.
❤️ Dogs with heart or breathing conditions
Heat puts extra stress on the lungs and heart, making hot weather especially risky.
🚨 Signs of heatstroke can include:
Excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, collapse, or confusion.
💧 Always provide fresh water, shade, and avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day. If you’re worried your dog may be overheating, contact your vet immediately.
